This hurricane is going to be epically bad. I'm hearing it's the most powerful storm ever recorded in terms of total kinetic energy. Sure it's peak winds are only category 2 but the wide spread is absolutely massive and that's what matters. They are predicting a 20-25ft storm surge along the Texas cost which is pretty much going to wipe a few places off the map. Jeff Masters, the meteorologist from wunderground, says in reality, regardless of it's wind rating, this is equivalent of a Category 5 storm making land fall.

They had to shut down the Causeway yesterday because the storm surge had over taken it and parts of down town were starting to flood slightly because the surge was pushing the bay back up through the storm drainage system......and that's here in freaking Mobile which is hundreds of miles away.

Yeah I was watching the weather channel and they issued a "Certain Death Warning" for the citizens of Galveston. I was like wtf lol. Yeah I know it isn't really funny but you've got to admit it is sort of bad ass.

A lot of people are burned by the Rita experience, but the people in Galveston are nuts. They said on TV that officials are asking people who are staying behind to write their social security numbers in ink on their arm so they could be identified. :(
