Watch the last vid for sure!

Ive had 3 prairie dogs as pets. They're at least 10x more intelligent than dogs or cats and their lanuage sytem is possibly the most advanced after humans. Rednecks go out and shoot them for fun. I think its fucking disgusting and would snipe those cocksuckers myself if i had the chance.
Not cool....
Here are some non-sadistic prairie dog videos

I'm not an animal rights activist. I think hunting is cool, but shooting animals for the hell of it is sick. Remember, most of your serial killers start off harming animals for fun.

Man, that's definately some messed up stuff.
People harming animals for no reason boils my blood....I would rip their heads off and spit down their throats for such an act.

Same here. Went hunting twice and killed two deer. Felt bad even though they are overpopulated and we did eat it, but its just not my thing. Killing semi intelligent animals for fun is just not cool. I've heard of rednecks back when I has in high school going around and purposely running over dogs with their big trucks. I seriously wanted to kill them.
Oh god...just erase the fucking thread.
Why are you getting mad just because we don't think it is funny? We stated our opinions, there is no need to get sensitive

I'm not mad because you don't think it's funny, but it's going nowhere. I guess I should have never posted it since everyone seems to be bleeding.

aww damn i didn't even watch half of the first one.
I agree that the random destruction of innocent life is wrong...
But, this actually just isn't simply for sport. They are controlling a rodent population. As much as they are called dogs they are varnmint and a rodent.
They are destructive to the agriculture and meat industries and these guys are simply video taping what they do to survive every day (now... I do believe that they are getting a great deal of enjoyment out of shooting these thngs with high-powered rifles but, thats a different thing all together)
I'm sure the number of Prairie Dogs that they kill on a yearly basis doesn't even begin to compare to the number of Nutria that are killed by the NOPD (New Orleans Police Department) every year... So if you want to whine about little furry animals getting killed whine about that first....

'rodent' is just a word like 'homosapien' or 'mammal' it doesnt imply anything about the animal itself besides physical characteristics. the word 'rodent' seems to have a negative connotation associated with it.
saying 'its okay to kill rodents' is the same as saying 'its okay to kill marsupials'. Rabbits are rodents and so are gerbils, hampsters, and guinea pigs. People have already wiped out 96% of prairie dogs.
Its true that the priairie dogs are bad for the meat and agricultual industries, but the prairie dogs were there first and are very important to the ecosystems in western north america. Many animals rely solely on the prairie dog for food one of which is the black footed ferret i believe. Many owls rely on the burrows for shelter, etc etc.
I think simply because of the fact that they are highly intelligent they should be spared, at least not have their deaths made into bloodsport or entertainment for the public.
In the last 100 years, prairie dogs have added the words 'gun' and 'man with gun' to their vocabulary. Im sure if people were out shooting dolphins for fun it wouldnt last long.

OK Fine... A rodent is an animal that has large incisors...

Rabbit tastes good.... Too bad they don't have opposable thumbs and lack the mental capcity to work a firearm....
People have already wiped out 96% of prairie dogs.
74% of all statistics are made up

Polio, Smallpox, and the Plauge were here before us.... And I'm sure they were important to a myriad of tiny microcosoms before we wiped them out. Too bad their not fuzzy and don't have ganglea so we don't have to care about them.

Aight... I took 7 years of science in high school including AP Enviromental Science... It may very well be that the prairie dogs are a keystone species but, I personally have no clue... I have problems getting into arguments like these because facts in situations like these are hard to come by.
Both sides of the issue manufacter and twist half-truths and partial studies to form their own "scientific backing". From whatever source you referenced the population has been cut by 96%. If this were such a critical factor in this ecosystem obvious signs of degrading populations of other species including the agricultural products and the farmed cattle would have been noticed.
I think simply because of the fact that they are highly intelligent they should be spared, at least not have their deaths made into bloodsport or entertainment for the public.
Justify this intelligent thing. I think if I saw my family go out my front door and explode one by one... I think I'd find somewhere else to go...

I dunno... There was (and still is) a great number of dolphins that are killed each year during tuna fishing. The only really up-roar was during the whole fun Flipper the movie stuff and the Dolphin Safe tuna stuff...
BTW... Back to your "rodents are rodents" thingie... I ate dolphin on Friday for lunch w/ my boss...

Something tells me that you ate the fish that is also called dolphin, or mahi mahi. It's really good. No one eats dolphins (like flipper) except for occational tuna lovers.
btw. don't compare prarie dogs to neutrias. Neutrias are nasty and are not being slaughtered in massive numbers. Also the statistic of 96% or prarie dogs being killed off is accurate.

A quote from Dennis Leary sums up the animal rights movement:
"we only want to save the cute animals"

You didn't eat the mammal for lunch with your boss, thier is a fish called a dophin also, that is what you had unless you ate at poachers R us.
im too tired to write too much, but i'll write a little
speaking of opposable thumbs, prairie dogs have them. As far as eating dolphins, I've got reservations about eating animals that might be smarter than me.
As far as intelligence and as ghey as it may sound, but from my experience with Prairie dogs, they have the capacity to love a human. When i would come home, my prairie dogs would freak out. It wasnt because they knew food was coming or that their food provider had survived yet another day. They wanted nothing more than to just hang out with me and play. Just like a dog, if someone pretended to be agressive with me, the prairie dogs would try to rip said agressor a new asshole.
OK Fine... A rodent is an animal that has large incisors...
I've had some first hand experience with those toofus. My mentally unstable male, Peanut didnt like my little brother for whatever reason. He was trying to make friends with peanut by getting his fingers near the cage so he could get a scent, but didnt like him anyway and started freaking the fuck out, so like a dumbass, i tried to put my fingers in the cage so he'd smell that im okay and chill out. Well...he mistook my finger for my little brothers and bit down to the bone and latched on. Needless to say my finger was pretty fucked after that, but i didnt hold it against him because it happened so fast. Digger would clean under my fingernails with her big ass teeth.

I wrote up a big reply, but its not even worth my time. Go kick/torture/set fire to as many animals as you want. I just won't be joining you.
As far as prairie dogs spreading plague, its true. But you should be fine as long as you dont eat their feces or rotting flesh. You didnt....eat...the feces....did you? NOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!

monkeypox
not so much like hanta, but it is in the same family as smallpox just not nearly as lethal.

i was wrong about the eating feces thing, thats black plague. seems this thing is spread without the eating of feces, in which case im fine, because last time i ate prairie dog feces was a few weeks ago and i feel fine

    You actually took science in high school!!! How can we compete with your vast array of knowledge. :P
Talk all the "I'll use big words to sound smart" you want. Everything has its place in the enviroment and needs to be in a proper balance. However, this does not make mindless slaughtering of any animal right. Killing for fun and taping it just isn't cool no matter if it is an animal that needs to be controlled or not. We have gov orginizations and regulated hunting seasons for this.
Turn on the Outdoor network sometime...
They hunt/kill/fish all sorts of animals for game and sport and broadcast it on TV...
And there are gov regulations on this as well.... They follow the laws. If you don't like it petition your congressmen don't bitch @ me

Well, watch the speed channel. People race around in a counter-clockwise circle for hours on end. doesnt make it right

Aight.... this discussion is going to continue for 30 pages..
It's a circular discussion that someone thinks they are right and someone else thinks they are right w/ no chance of changing the others mind.... It's futile..
We all got to express our opinions on the matter and I think we've reached a good stopping point....
