Crazy thing is that he was in route for a mid 8 second pass. His 330ft time was several tenths faster than the new 8.97 record. Still funny though, apparently a 1-2-1 shift is common with K-series transmissions.

Dang. That was intense. FWD traction FTL.
Here is a stupid question...would that tranny pretty much be fubar'ed after the 1-2-1?

Unless I'm mistaken it's not a dog box, it's a relatively standard K-series transmission and several K-series drag guys on Honda-Tech mentioned it was an issue with those transmissions. If I'm wrong feel free to fill me in.

1-2-1 is a VERY VERY VERY common mis-shift with the ktrans...most of the Kguys I know running buttonwillow and circuits also pop motors due to mis-shifts...so its not an isolated incident to DRAG...and as far as I can recall...thats not a dogbox car...

To be honest, if I had to guess I'd say the tranny would be fine, esp. if its a dogbox. Now the engine on the other hand...

they say the engine and tranny came out in pieces. norris said the flywheel looked like a taco. i imagine that if it looked like that, it probably broke the housing. they also say the datalog saw 16k rpm.
