Not a whine or a complaint; a nice way of saying "FUCK YOU" to the people who bitched and then didn't show. I think Tom said it best so I was leaving out the explitives (sp?) but he also posted before dinner so I still thought a few would show.

Whatever swine, I couldn't stand it when the dinner thread would go up at 7pm on Tuesday. So, I asked if someone would put something up earlier and everyone said to just put something up so I have been. I was trying to be nice and cater to the group since you guys know the area better than me; well, fuck that; if anyone doesn't like the place then pack sand motherfucker. :D

As for planning, it's called life, it'll smack you in the face eventually.

Yeah, I understand that but if it is not going to happen then I'd like to know about it before Tuesday so that I can do something else with that time and some things require planning (depends on the situation). Spontanaity (sp?) is great but for semi-routine things (like DAAM) it is helpful (to me at least) to plan them in advance or to plan something else with that time. As it stands, I expect to go and hang out with members of Aspeed on Tuesday nights every week which is cool but again if that is not going to happen then I'd prefer to know about it more than 10 mins in advance so I can maybe do something constructive with that time. Now, this is just me personally and others will have their opinions on it; since I like to look ahead a little bit on things I have been starting the DAAM threads so that I know what to expect but I do (or did) look for feedback on the matter as I am not desiring to dictate what the plan is as this is a "group" event. Again, this is all just my thoughts on the matter.

I want to PERSONALLY thank Shawn for making the last few DAAM posts. In even very recent times, it was only either me or Jason who made one. If SOMEONE doesn't make the DAAM post, then dinner probably won't happen. If dinner doesn't happen, what is the point in everyone getting together on Tuesdays at the deck then??

We have been meeting with out dinner forever. I remember back in 04 when i first started coming it was just be at the parking lot at 9, then we changed venues and it stayed the same. Dinner is not required and some of us can't afford/attend and thats cool.

Yeah this is the same fucking problem we ran into when I was there. Basicily I just got tired of everybody's "nya nya nya I don't like Chotchkie's! Let's go to Jack Rabbit Slim's" then not having the people who bitched not show up. Tom and I just started picking a place at random every week from the places we had been were we got decent service and were reasonably cheap. The idea behind DAAM was (and still is) to get people together before the meets and let them relax, take a load off, shoot the shit, possibly get a beer, and get dinner with friends. You gotta eat; might as well eat with friends.

The location for dinner, while needing to be decent, should just be a backdrop and a chair for you to show up and talk about things with friends. There are a lot of decent places in Auburn where you can get dinner for less than 10 bucks and shoot the shit with your friends for a few hours without having to freeze your nads off outside.

You cannot please everybody all the time and at some point you just have to put out the flag and say we are meeting here; come with us or don't.

If it was up to me DAAM would have been at Outback but it would be about three of us who are not broke ass college students. :D

One more thing to think about is that towards the end of the semester you guys should try to have a DAAM at a nicer place. Every semester people graduate, leave, get kicked out, or move on to a new place in life and sitting down with a group of friends and chowing down on a steak or something tasty is a great way to hang out and have some good memories of your friends before you split up and go your separate ways.

No its never been required and never will be. It is just a nice thing if you are able and want to attend to get a meal with friends. I think what Tom and Sean are saying is that picking a place is a thankless job really; you get crap from people for picking someplace then you move it to a place they want to go, then those same people don't even show up for dinner.
If you are going to complain about it and lobby to get it moved then show up with everybody else OR shut your damn mouth and we'll see you at the normal meet @ 9pm. :D

I like the DAAM I had fun last time I went...and almostgayandnaked is cool in my book and I appreciate anyone who tries to put up a thread for us to meet up and eat before the gathering...always have appreciated it, even if I didnt go. I have 4-5 friends who I typicaly eat with before meets so that keeps me from DAAM ussually.
