Friday 13th - should have known.

Went to Steele tonight. There was about 70 or 80 people on hand. The staging lanes were small and moving quick. The track was hooking. I pulled my best time yet 13.55 @107.2mph and my best 1/8th 8.90. Time came for the quick 8 and a guy that worked there was roaming the parking lot looking for cars. He was having a hard time getting eight people together since there were very few cars (especially fast ones). I volunteered and so did this guy with a GN that I had been talking to all night. We were paired together. I won running a .466 r/t to his 1.56 r/t, but it did cost me. I accidently pulled my car out of gear(3rd), and now it won't go back into 3rd gear. All the other gears are fine. When I try to shift into 3rd, it just won't move. There isn't any grinds. I can take the shifter out of 1st slide it all the way over and the next gear it falls into is 5th. I have had this happen before awhile back. 4th gear was the problem then and it was doing the same thing. Then, one day it just shifted back into fourth and there was no problem with it since. Does anyone have any ideas?

are you serious? I didnt know that not being able to put it in 3rd had anything to do with the engine.

Maybe you fucked your shift fork or something. Can you not even rev match or anything? maybe your syncro is totally gone. Drain your tranny and look for metal bits.

lol

If it was the shift fork, wouldn't other gears be effected also? It won't grind and I can't rev match. It might be the synchro or it could be the linkage.

Yeah, I'd check out your linkage. You have a cable operated tranny right?

shift rod....

I agree. Something with that and one of the the shift forks. The tranny table isn't in use if you wanna drop the tranny over here and check it out.

Me and tha dawg wit our mad tranny skillz yo. Disassembly in 9mins 34sec... put it back together in 15mins 3 sec. And since it was a UNIKORN tranny a lot of the bolts would screw themselves on and torque themselves to spec, so that helped us out a little.

I will figure something out eventually. No rush since it is still perfectly driveable.

not necesairly, you can hose one and it could work fine elsewhere.

or you could have cleaned all the teeth off the 3rd gear on the layshaft or mainshaft. shit like that is always comical, but i suspect you bent a fork, but not so badly as to affect other gears.

lightweight ass honda shit ;)

What was wrong with it?

Don't know, Scott. Whatever it is hasn't given me any more problems. It isn't tranny related though. My only guess is that it had something to do with the shift linkage. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it".
