1988 Jetta GL - Nice car, except somethng was messed up with the shifter linkage that made reverse and first gear like 1/2 a micron apart from eachother. Plus it was advertised at $1200 but the guy said he wanted $1500. That kinda turned us off, plus its not a hatchback and we decided we want a hatch. (hatches are VERY JDM!!11!!!)

1986 Civic Hatch - Interior was nice, but i guess fuel ate away at the rings. We burned through about 4 quarts during our 5 minute test drive. No way.

1990 Civic DX Hatch - We meet the guy at the Opelika Walmart gas station. We see strobes in the distance...uh oh. thats the guy. About 25 APC Stickers later, I notice the 'Got Nitrous' sticker on the back. Maan, this car was fucked UP. The left spindle made a noise any time i accelerated, had a major EFI problem. The interior pieces were painted white. Nuff said.

You shoulda run w/ him on asking to buy the car for it's performance and see how far you could stretch the BS...

Ask HP, Toruqe, 1/4 miles....
Ask how much horsepower you get outta a V-4 (try to make him repeat V-4) :D

Record it and give it to me and I'll post it on my site :D....

Please! :D

nah, he seemed like a nice guy, or maybe he was just meek cuz i pulled up in a 1337 clean car. I'll give you his number if you wanna do it.

Another thing about that car, I opened the hood, and as I was closing it, I couldnt help but notice the 4' wide APC sticker on the hood. I almost lost it and busted out laughing. That would have been uncomfortable. I probably had the funniest grin/trying to keep a straight face look. He probably thought i was taking a crap in my pants

HAHAHA I went through the same thing when some grizzled black guy came up to me one day at goo goo and asked me if my car was a 5.0 all while'st it still had the "4.6L" badge on the side of the car  I told him no that it was a 4.6 and he said he bet i get my ass stomped all the time versus "dem five oh's". I told him it was usually the other way around and he axed why and I told him I had a supercharger then proceeded to point at the alternator. Then he was like "Oh I see. I see!" In all seriousness too. HHAHA It was funny....almost as funny as that guy with the amazing 12 second "special edition" V6 turbo rotary engine with forged pistons. :o

yeah but remember he had headers installed along with the turbo!

NO, us honda guys call those exhaust manifolds. The wrx has a header that runs from the far side of the engine to the turbo though.

I saw that audi on super tuner tv. Why dont more audi people run tubular exhaust manifolds like the japanese world? Seems like they would flow more.

Clint, with that comment, you have sealed your fate. The WRX has a CROSS OVER pipe because it has TWO BANKS OF CYLINDERS hence the BOXER design. If it didn't have the pipe, the turbo would only be fed by 2 cylinders. In that pic is a header type exhaust manifold for a turbo vehicle. It may not be 3 feet long, but its certainly no log type mani.

Because we have something better:

Inconel 625, lifetime guarantee never to crack. And when your EGT's are up around 2K, you need something serious. Plus, you are more free with internal geometry on a cast part.

but now you have un-equal runner length which isn't as good. However I'm sure companies can custom fab manifolds for you guys just like anyone else.

Just because it's unequal length doesn't make it a lousy design. Apr's manifold is one of the best flowing availible for the 1.8t. The cast design is also much cheaper in mass production compared to a jigged tubing design. Of course the money they save is offset by making the damn thing out of inconel... :?

I know that, you just restated what i said. :P I was just too lazy to type out boxer and 2 banks of cylinders and stuff.

BLAH i found NSX inconel headers for 10k. so there. If i had an nsx and ungodly ammounts of money i could get some. How much are the inconnel manifolds for audis? What exactly is inconnel, what metal is it? Inconnel or some alloy derivative?

OH and if those log manis are soo badass, why dont 1200 hp skylines and supras run them? :P

You'll have to exuse clint. He's all about NA and Honda. Im soo above that now. ;) well..almost

Just because they are badass doesn't mean they have to make 1300hp. They are the BEST manifold for out application and would have no problem flowing enough air to max out a 1.8t(which is around 500hp). BTW, inconel manifolds were used on the Audi lemans race cars, they were also $10k per manifold.

That's pretty much irelevant on a turbo car, particularly at these HP levels.
