Got some best buy gift cards and $$ from Christmas from family and I'm wanting a blue ray player. figured since I'm wanting to get back into gran turismo, I may as well pay a few more bucks and get something like the 40 gig PS3 so I can watch movies and get my GT on.

Question is this. My brother has a lot of copied blue ray disks and I'm wanting to watch some. Will the PS3 play these without any problems?

What about "backed up" PS3 games?

And given the fact that I plan on not really using the internal hdd for music storage or anything like that, is it really worth the extra $$ for the 60 or 80 gig models??

The internal storage capacity is up to you. I have no idea how a PS3 does with burned bluray media. Just make sure you get a model that has wifi built in.

Well I ended up snagging the 80gb one at best buy with gt5 prologue. Didn't realize it required the entire game to be copied to the hdd. And the spec III upgrade added more on top of that.

I'll have to read up on what I'll lose and what data will remain if i do a hdd swap.

It's got the wifi but for some reason only 1 of the 5 generated WEP network keys actually works :/

I would use WPA or WPA2 instead of WEP...that's just me though.

Have you tried a burned bluray disc yet? I'm curious to see how it does.

I'll see if either of the WPA protocols give me any luck.

I haven't tried a burned disk yet. My brother's roomate is stll out of town unti new years.
