If any of you guys see any CRX's in good condition for under $3k.....let me know. I am going to start looking into alernative ways for going fast.

Which bodystyle? 91 EF, or 92+ EG? The EF's are around 300 pounds lighter, give or take, and are just as easy to swap a b16 into. Plus they are cheaper. I can hook you up with Tom's roommate Tim, who sells a lot of Hondas for good prices. I got mine from him.

EF.....I start working again next week. So, I should have about 5~$6k to play with by December. I could buy the car before then and mod it will the incoming money. Matt, what is the insurance on your car if you don't mind me asking. I would probably do liability only.

Ahh..I didn't notice you said CRX, I was thinking civic. I saw a red CRX at the corner across from the post office underneat a tree behind a house. I heard the guy wants like 1500 for it, but it's got a lot of miles. You might be able to talk him down.

My friend has a nice crx, but probably more than you want to pay.

Micheal, I read up on the B18C5 tranny deal. You can swap in the hydro tranny but it requires some work. Instead what you do is sell the ITR tranny for around $1,000-$1,2000 and either buy a cable no LSD tranny and install a quaife (comes out to about $1,200) or just buy a JDM cable tranny with LSD which will hook up the the B18C5 block. The second way is the most traveled route. After its just like a B16 swap except for the wiring. Looks like you can just get a B16 ECU and have it chipped to ITR specs (there are several ECU/wiring options).

damn street racers! /throws up fist/

Speaking of Hondas. You guys would trip the fuck out if you came to my hometown. EvERYBODY has got led nozzels and every civic has an intake and a muffer. I have yet to see 1 nicely done import. Cant wait to be back to moderate rice levels

on the R mota in the rex, you use the 91 integra gsr tranny. Thats what ken runs anyway.

edit* not cheap speed, cheaper speed. Hondas arent dsm's now.

No, civics and DSMs are both MUCH cheaper than our cars. Like I said, cheap speed. 8)

Man, I really want an EG, they look so much better. I don't care if they weigh more, I will gut the thing to all get out anyways. We need to try and find a CRX or an EG with a good body and a blown motor.

Well, some more options have entered my head. My little brother will be getting a car here relatively soon and our 91 Honda accord would become ours. What motors can swap into that one? I believe it is an F series in there right now. If that car has some potential, there is no reason for me to buy a project car when I will get one for free. Plus, it is more of a sleeper....and I like sleepers 8) . Then I coud have the best of both worlds. Stg.3 my car and have a fun, cheap, project car.

The fastest sohc civic has an f22 in it with a d series tranny. I think you can get reground cams and head packages. Try www.exospeed.com

That accord is pretty cool!

Okie okie heres the scoop. In the accord now is a F22, but if I'm right, it only 120 sumting hp. Yes you can drop a H22 in there but its a lot of work. First of all is the Accord now a auto or 5 speed? If it's a 5 auto, forget, its a pain, headache and lots of $ to switch over. From other ppl, a H22,5speed, basic bolt ons and all, mid 14's or so. Okie I'm tired, I'll finish this tom. O yea T3 kicks ASS!!

You can fit an H23 or H22 in dere. Why's it a lot of work? From what i've heard the wiring is the same except for the Vtec wire and vtec oil pressure sender wire, and the rest just bolts in.

You've got your H22's
H22a
H22a1
H22a4 H22a4a1's are the cheapest and middle-fastest, so they're the best bet. If you're going turbo ever, keep the tranny you got, and switch in an H23a1, or you can put the h23 tranny in there. f22 has the longest gears, then h23, then h22

All motor - h22 tranny and h22 motor

5spd with an F22. I was thinking about just purchasing a spare F22 engine and building it for boost. That way the car could run untill the built motor is swapped in and I can still use the stock ECU with piggy back units.

Spare F22? Thats like a Unicorn. Good luck finding one. I hear there are less than 8 million spare F22's left in the southeast. I'm tellin ya. Watch out for them oil pumpers bo

NSX calipers/rotors = $400

Legend GS calipers/rotors + SS lines + Pads = $400

GS brakes are actually bigger too

What I meant was that if it was a AUTO...it would be a lot of work but since it's a 5 speed, shouldn be a problem then.
I wouldn't go with building a f22. Yea a lot of ppl say thats its better for boosting and all but its exactly like building a D16 and not just drop a B16 or B18 into. My point being is that you're going to be one step behind wit the f22. Get what I'm saying? Would be pretty sweeet tho to drop a H22 in a Accord, def put me into shame and make me get mines quicker.

Geo calipers + crx discs=ownag3 of all things that brake

So your saying I should build a B16 or B18 instead of the stock F22?

How you gonna lug that heavy ass car around with insufficient low-end torque? Whats the specs on the b18? Youd still be missing almost half a litre of displacement

Wat I meant again was that with building a F22, you'll be one step behind if you did that instead of a H22....I was just using the whole B18 as a example. I forgot you're not a Honda guy but heres the scoop. Some ppl wit Civics will drop tons of cash into thier D16(127hp) and build that and all whea they could have just dropped a B16(160hp) or a B18(170hp) and have the lil edge. Yes you wouldn't have a builted motor or a turbo but look at the diff...SOHC vs DOHC and if you turbo a D16, you'll just have just a tad bit more hp then a B18 or so. Get the point on that one? I really hope I'm not confusing you on it anymore.
But yea like Jess said, if you plan on doin the H22, do wat he said wit the whole tranny plan and all.

The fastest all motor h22 is slower than the fastest single cam ( was a d15, now f22).
