For those of you at the meeting, I made a spirited exit after making sure there were no cars in either direction. Well lo and behold, a cop magically appears in my rear view mirror and proceedes to give me a ticket for racing RACING?! WHAT THE FUCK??? "Under state law, what you did is considered racing" All I did was peel out. Shit give me a fucking break.

The guy was a total deuche bag too. I told him that I would lose my job for this if my boss looks at my driving record anytime in the future and that I was really sorry for what I did and it would never happen again. He then proceeded to inform me of the court info and the number to call for information (implying that he did not give a shit).

If any of you know officer #20, a certain Michael Vi...something, ***************. He's a medium height white guy with a military hair cut.

No person shall drive any vehicle on any highway in any race, speed competition or contest, drag race or acceleration contest, test of physical endurance, exhibition of speed or acceleration, or for the purpose of making a speed record, and no person shall in any manner participate in any such race, competition, contest, test or exhibition


Unfortunatly exhibition of speed is an extremely subjective term and can be applied to almost any driving situation where the officer can't find another law that you have broken. So my best advice would be to call a lawyer and get ready to get a kick in the wallet....

well the funny thing is that there was no exhibition of speed. I don't even think I broke the speed limit. The road was wet, the fairly bald back tires hit the crosswalk paint and the RPM's shot up and the car got sideways. I don't know where this guy was hiding but there was no intent to see how fast I could leave.


Just out of curiosity, how much would a lawyer cost? Any ballpark price? Would it be worth it to try and just go at it myself? The reason I'm asking is becase not one of those definitions in the penile code apply to what happened last night.

under code 32-5a-178, the ticket just says "racing". that shit's so ambiguious.
A guy on stangnet just got out of court for "exhibition of speed" and it set him back $190 but he got caught racing another guy on the cop's dash cam. :?

Even if you didnt go past the speed limit they can still write you a ticket for basically getting there too fast... in their opinion. Its really subjective, so even a mediocre lawyer should be able to get you off. That does suck though.

ive been to court for racing, ask him what his definition of a race is... he will tell you,
you need TWO to race,
you cant race your self

so improper start could have been the penalty

but dont bring that up, ask the judge what racing is... the cop will tell you

Display of speed is just saying you are showing off your car's abilities so to speak. Spinning your tires is a display of speed even if you aren't moving.

I got the same ticket 2 years ago "Racing on the Highway". I wasn't on a highway and I was the only one on the road. It was back in the village some where over by o l d frat row. And to make the situation even worse it was by a bike cop. :fuckyou:

But the cop was a rookie and when I went to court he came up to me and changed it to excessive speed in a zone or some shit. Ticket was $112 but I'm not sure on how many points.

Yeah I fuckin hate that guy, he's the one who gave me a ticket for 75 in a 55 on shug jordan by college park 2. It was the first day of spring break, yeah it kinda fucked that week up for me, well until I started drinking :lol:
