I've got this clunk clunk clunk comeing from under the hood which I believed to be a valve sticking. The guys over at stangnet quickly pointed out that most times when guys think it's a sticky valve, it's actually a rod bearing gone out. What the fuck is a rod bearing? My engine is an overhead cam design and not push rod. what the hell type of rod is it?? Any ideas?? They said if not fixed rather soon, the engine could sieze up.

Uh, valves don't stick. Could be a lifter, or a connecting rod bearing. Its tough to diagnose noises without hearing them, but if you are asking if its possible, then yeah, its possible. But the 4.6 bottom end is pretty stout.

If it is a rod bearing, I doubt the engine is going to seize up. If its spun you'll see metal in the pan, and the bearing will destroy itself and you'll get very low oil pressure.

I will...just as soon as MAC sends me some damn bolts to re attach the original crank pulley to the underdriven one....how the hell they came out blows my mind. I ought to just get a steeda set and get it done with.

If your crank pulley seperated, that is your problem. It willsound like an engine knock...

I replaced the crank pulleys that were piggybacked and put on a new steeda underdrive pulley with SFI balanced AND the steeda Timing adjuster. The loud knocking sound has vanashed but still a slight and i mean VERY slight sound coming from i believe the passenger side front piston (#1 i think). The pulley is on straight as well as the T/A. Also, this sound doesn't happen until I drive the car for a long time like to montgomery. It's very faint. Any ideas?

It's your brain beating itself against your skull for thinking your engine was going to blow up from a loose crank pulley.

Seriously, your new noise, you've described it as a 'sound'. Sorry that's not enough info. ;) Though the PCV valve tends to be noisy on those engines.
