Excuse me MR vette man?

How much will it cost to put brakes on the corvette?? does it use special tires specific for its application? Is it available in manual?

Chevy, Cadillac, and Buick will be here forever. They are just dropping the others off one by one.

I still do not understand why they are keeping Buick
it makes no sense to me as Buick has always been a higher "class" car and Cadillac seems to fill that area very well. I think they should have kept Pontiac as a cheaper performance minded car and scrapped Buick

I wouldn't count on it. Chrysler is now Bankrupt (http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/04/30/chrysler-filing-bankruptcy-official-says/) and GM is looking to sell half the company to the Federal Government in exchange for loan forgiveness.

Im sure the LS9, the ZR1, and other fun stuff will be gone soon enough.

It basically already is dead with GM Performance Parts division going belly up a month or so ago...

And Buick WILL stay around. It has almost more history than any other GM brand. Cadillac's focus in the last few years was making "performance/euro luxury" cars, whereas Buick is just Luxury. There are still a TON of buyers in the market for just that...

There will always be a demand for cars in America. However I wouldn't look for anything resembling a ZR1 Vette, or the Camaro in the coming years. You are absolutely right that Euro/Cars will be the new American standard.

I agree. Cars will be the new American standard! Not so sure about Euro being American standard though.

Cadillac already made the move to a more Euro style. Chrysler was merged with Daimler, and now with Fiat so we can expect more of a move toward the Euro trend there. Chevrolet has a very large market in Europe, so to say they will be making the shift was silly. It is just a matter of them selling those cars here now.

Ever driven past the local Bingo hall on a Thursday night?

Coming from someone with inside knowledge, limited sure, but still inside. GM will be sticking around. They are changing a lot of things up, but they aren't just going to go out. Every regional general manager or higher-up person that has come here since I have been here was exuding joy. There is some cool stuff coming, but they can't tell us yet. There will always be a Corvette, so you guys saying that they are going to axe it are crazy. They will continue to make the Corvette even if they lose money on every one they make. It is branding.

exactly... a Buick is THE car to own in china. More popular than any german/euro brand ect. kinda funny, but it was last with such a HUGE popularity base.

SO far so good.

Liking the launch control on a corvette? That'll void your GTR warranty.

I don't think they will axe it, I do think they will stop making things like the ZR1 model, and will ax any future concepts like the new Camaro.

Anyone else used a WOT box? Cheap, works great for me, and you don't have to buy a new Vette or GTR to use it. ;)

There is a guaranteed minimum life of 10 years on that zeta platform.

With 300+ HP v6 getting 18 29 MPG on the window sticker and some owners seeing north of 21/32 mpg. As well as the v8 getting 16/25. I really don't see them going after the Camaro that hard. I see them culling out the SUV's and Trucks that get worse mileage before they decide to do anything with the Camaro. At this point the v6 is to make up a majority of the production numbers so even though the V8 doesn't get as good of mileage I don't think it will get the chop even in the next 5 years.

Hell my car when it had bolt ons and a tune regularly would top 28mpg on the highway and 20 in the city if I was nice. If I slowed my cruise to 70mph on the highway, she could average damn near 30mpg. I see no issue with sticking w/ V8's for GM. Especially if they decide to go DI with them.
