I am going to get a small group together for a Motorcycle ride Sunday morning and go to Niffers on the lake for lunch.. There are some great roads up there and it should be fun.. Lets plan on leaving around 10 and meet up at the Chevron station besid...e the Waffle house on HW 231 at the bypass. The ride will take about 1 1/2 hours to get there and about the same to get back.. If you include an hour to eat its going to be about 4 hours of fun.. We are going to take it easy no super fast riding and will also have some newbie's with us so plan on taking it nice and easy..

I really want to but I might not be in town and my bike hemorrhages oil at the momment. I got screwed on the purchase and I'll have to fix it this winter. If I did go I'd have to carry oil and stop about half way to fill up...

I'd normally be down but I noticed on Wednesday that my front tire was bald (worn through the outer tread layer and started in on the inner rubber lining but before the belts) so my bike is down until the new tires (and stands) get here. Have fun to those who can make the ride, it sounds like a good cruise.

Sam I would love to come but I have alot of stuff to do around the house. I will say this to any one riding around highways 49 and 50. We used to ride those roads at speeds 3 times thier posted limits. There is a sweeping left hand turn as you are going downhill. Coming up to it you think it isn't that bad, however it isn't a 90 degree more like a 120, which you haven't planned for such a tight corner and it pushes you out of a normal line you would travel. On your new line there is a bump, the bump pushes you even futher and if you aren't on your shit off the road into the trees just off the roads edge. I personally saw 2 people go off the road and 1 hit a tree. If you go and ride around Cheha oh my GOD it is worth it. But the State of Alabama decide to repave the roads with a gravel like asphalt, it is true I saw the documents "in an effort to slow down the motorcycle riders" if you ride up there be mindful of it's shitty pavement. It is so worth the trip but you have to be sure to be mindful at all times. Good luck and let me know how it goes.

85 to montgomery usually takes me a little more than 30 mins. I want to go but don't want to ride by myself over there. you should ome with me.

So it's 30 mins to montgomery and then the 4 hour ride, then 30 mins home?

Just trying to see if I have the time for it.

I really hate I missed out on the ride. I guess it is a good thing because I rode a little yesterday and pushed the bike closer to the level I was riding at and noticed around the clutch basket area there is a small oil leak. It was bad enough to have made it's way to the frame, my shoe, then the swing arm. Which for me was SCARY close to the rear tire for my comfort. Anyway I hope you all had a ball, I know those roads are so beautiful and a BLAST to ride. Sam next time let's get a ride planned a little more in advance and we will ride Cheha and the Pig Trail. Even though the pavement blows the surroundings are nice and the roads are curvy.

Tires AND stands came today (I was a little surprised they came same day as the stands shipped from Norther AL and the tires from Ohio, ordered same day) so I should be back on two wheels soon. I'm going through withdrawals and it hasn't even been a week.

Sam, it sucks to hear about your on board oil slick; should be a quick fix though right? Just a seal/gasket replacement? Good to hear you and the bike made it home safely though.

which way did you guys go? if you took 231 you would have gone hwy14 to 63 then up to 229 then those curvy roads up near Martin Dam, correct?
