i have been loving cutcliff for a long time. nobody gives him respect and its GAY. OLE MISS SUCKs A HUGE ONE for firing him. he only had 1 losing season there. i think ole miss forgot their place in college football. your not gonna get better than cutcliff at ole miss gimmie a break. he took them to 5 bowl games in his 7 years there i think and he also recruited eli manning. he helped tenn win 2 sec titles as well as a national championship. wtf. somebody use this guys talents other than duke. lol

this would be his 3rd trip to tenn if they picked him up lol

Well, how much longer will Mack Brown be there? No one knows.....he doesn't seem to be close to retiring anytime soon. Muschamp could take over one of the top schools (no matter how much in turmoil) in the SEC (the best conference in the nation) and possibly make 3 to 4 times more than he is making now which is 750,000 to 1mil. I am not saying he should but simply pointing out the reasons why someone would take Tenn over waiting for Texas. So to be the coach of a big time school in a big time conference right now over a big time school in a mid level conference and have all the alphabet Texas schools to compete with versus being Tennessee's head coach and pretty much own the state (no matter how shitty the state).....not so far fetched. Especially if he could turn it around, he would be an icon to a fanbase who hasn't had much turn over with coaching staffs.

Muschamp isn't hurting for job offers. There is no reason to take one that will immediately put him in the hole. Tenn is a good school, and pays, but Texas is the end of the road.

In the end when Muschamp is old and gray, sticking it out at Texas will be a much wiser decision than taking a moments whim and going into a sinking Tenn program even if he gets a few extra years at head coach.

The statement was him considering it is comical.....if you were the next in line at your work and your boss is reported to be signing a 6 year contract extention and someone came to you and said we will pay you 4 times what you make with no waiting to be the HNIC. Thatd make sense if all Muschamp cared about was money, but he doesnt.

The Big 12 is no slouch of a conference--certainly not "mid-level." Mid-level would be the Mountain West or MAC.

Going to Tennessee would be extremely stupid because their program is in shambles. It's gone to complete shit and will be complete shit for a while.

Considering there arent many high caliber recruits from Tennessee, that arguments null and void.

It's like I said, comical, which is why he said he's not going anywhere.

Muschamp would be stupid to take the profits now to go the Tennessee when he could wait for his time and be a God at Texas. Even with the all the schools in Texas he gets the pic of the litter. In Texas there are roughly about 1000 more high schools in Texas (1346) than Tennessee (310) (not counting private/religious schools). He pretty much gets a shot at those kids before the other alphabet soup schools get there.

Well, most all coaches have huge egos and think it can't happen to them....look at the failure rate when a coach leaves college and goes pro but still, "I won't fail I will be the exception to the rule" so even though Tennessee is in shambles it isn't so bad that a good coach (which Muschamp I think would be) couldn't turn it around. Look at what Chizik and Saban has been able to do with programs (granted AL was far worse than Aub) in a short time frame.

It looks like Air Force's HC has turned them down which last year it seems as if he was the runner up.....for TN to want to have a coach in place before tomorrow their list is getting mighty short. My money is on John Gruden if his comments are any indication. The longer it takes the more recruits TN loses, it seems as if Auburn has benefited most with a couple players considering Auburn again after saying they were going to TN.

i'm not saying this because he didnt come to auburn. i'm saying it because he is going to south carolina. lol its just a bad decision. he should have gone somewhere he could have made a HUGE impact. usc has been at the bottom of the sec for some time now. i hate to see it for the kid. he will do fine but if he is worried about being a prime back heading into the nfl...usc is the wrong choice. whats funny is he said he wanted to attend a college that has championship potential. usc hasnt come close to having a team like that in YEARS...which tells me he is a home body and isnt honest with himself in what he wants.

The photo quality seems very high for a camera phone which would indicate a snap shot of a moment of true joy, so those lead me to believe that it was staged. For GOD sake a bitch is sitting down, they didn't just happen to be in the hallway by the TV during the press conf, as the photo would make you believe. Congrats on the class but as I have said it what you do with them once you get them, of the 32 sigs they got more than half of them won't pan out (same with Alabama). Seems like Tubs had pretty good classes in 06 and 07 and we see what happened there.

SI photographer took this photograph and he was there to cover the Chizik press conference today. Then again this could all be some Apollo hoax.

The recruits from those years didn't contribute right away. Some of them were/are major parts of the team. Pretty much the whole o-line came from 06/07. Ben Tate, Mario Fannin, and T Zach all came from those years. Tuberville's problem was never getting the top guys into school. If you go back and look through the classes it's obvious Tuberville was living off of other people's scraps.

At first, I still expected Auburn to be in the rebuilding process.

But when we added Cameron Newton that went out the window.

They do have a conference room. If you have ever been in the athletic building (I know you haven't) then you would know that this is one of the only TV's in the building that is connected to a cable source. You would think that SI would want a good picture of the reaction of the coaches about the announcement of Lemenior. Did you even watch the announcement on ESPN? If so did you see what happened that was funny? I'm guessing you took the picture and inserted your own theory just to piss on Auburn like you have done in every thread.

This is all in fun damn.....and no I didn't get to watch the press conference because I was at work, I did listen to 740 and hear what they had to say but I wasn't as informed as I was getting in and out of the truck. I did hear that Rivals is the only one what takes JuCo transfer's rating into account and from what I heard is why that is the only pole they are higher than Bama on. Seems like they would be able to reevaluate their talent at the Junior College level instead of either not using them or using their rank from several years ago. And Shiftless I don't care about recruiting it has just been that for this week everyone has talked about it non-stop. Don't believe me? Notice I haven't mentioned Alabama's star players....because I don't know them. All the info I have is from this thread and what is played on 740.

Compair this thread to the last football thread. The last one discussed schedules, weaknesses, strengths and etc. Nothing too much was said about recruiting, maybe because it was started after NSD. Anyway at the beginning of the thread I made several comments about the Tenn coaching search as well as other things. Then, all of the sudden it went to 100% recruiting talk which I don't understand. Being excited about who you are getting is fine and good but I am skeptical of any player until I see them play.

This is my issue with recruits.
1. Look at the classes from the last couple years and look how many never even played.
2. These kids in the videos look amazing against the other high school players. But when they make it to college they are going against equally as fast players. The field isn't as level in HS as in college. In college just like the pros everyone is good. So having said all that I don't care much for recruiting because a world beating stud on tape could either not make it because of grades or just not be that good. As I have said several times over wait until they get on the field. That not only measures them but the job the entire coaching staff is doing. I made a tongue in cheek comment of an observation I made and everyone jumped on me so I thought what the hell I am going to have fun with it. Since everything I say is coming from a Bammer I don't have to use much chum to get the pool of sharks moving.

I don't guess I made sence to you......if they are playing against an entire squad that has offers then sure but most of the time they are playing against kids that haven't even gotten a look from anyone. Would you compair your car to a Ferrari, Lamborghni, or Supra.....no? Why not it is a car so it must be similar. Nevermind that those cars are on a different level of performance, that was all I was saying about HS footage. There is a guy at work that gets his rocks off watching these kids play and was going on how "fast" this one kid was. I asked, "what does he run the 40 in?" He said, "4.4 something" in college EVERYONE runs that so that kid want be that fast in college. Does that make sence?

First off, every kid in college doesnt run a 4.4x.

Second, nationally ranked high school programs play other ranked high school programs. Have you never seen high school football on ESPN?

Do you not remember when Hoover used to play out of state teams?

Elite programs play each other from time to time. Add in the state championship games and the high school all-star games and you get to see a lot of what a player can do against other good players.

everyone pay attention. this paragraph above is what happens we people speak on things they are uneducated about. look at it closely. there are a lot of things wrong with it but i'm only going to comment on one of them...

"everyone in college runs a 4.4 something" this is one of the dumbest things i have ever read. if you kept up with recruiting and stats which clearly you do not because it has been discussed thoroughly, you would know this isn't even close to being true. 4.4 is top notch in college from the fastest skill guys. 4.3 is the very best and RARE RARE RARE.

committed to alabama (peronally visited by sabear) up until an hour before his announcement, he switch and committed to Auburn. bama guys are flipping shit cause they loved this guy and he was set to sign. sabear obviously wanted him bad as he is a BEAST of a kid at 6-foot-6 330 pound OL. its crazy he switched and he still may switch back to bama later but wow, after having the 1st place OL recruiting this year, next year looks great as well lol.

Alabama has grabbed recruits AND lost some to [& from] Southern Cal, Michigan, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, LSU, etc.

Ehhh outside of 2004 he always came in below expectations. 2003, 2005, and 2006 were huge letdowns. And honestly I consider the 2004 season a failure on his part. Yeah undefeated and SEC champs is great and all, but if he had kept the starters in and got some style points, Auburn would have been playing for a crystal football and not a sugar bowl trophy. Not to mention he was always poor at bringing in talent.

There's so much uncertainty in these rankings, IMO you might as well call it a tie. Both schools had great classes, Auburn can feel good recruiting at the same level as the national championship team with all them titles.

Both classes are excellent, and most SEC schools would feel good with them. I'm actually glad that Chizik is bringing this new attitude in, I could tell something was different way before the Iron Bowl, which he handled impressively IMO.

Besides, Star Jackson is either going to move to WR or land at another school. rivals and scout is what most people go by. auburn is ahead of bama there. espn does a completely different ranking system for players ( espn 150) so their rankings are different. i hardly follow espn recruiting through the year as they are sometimes 2 months or more behind in class rankings and everything. pretty sad from a company like espn. rivals is always live and up to date daily.

ESPN doesnt include JUCO commits in their rankings which is why we placed behind Alabama.

They also have 5-star recruit Shon Coleman as a three star...ESPN overall sucks as far as recruiting goes.

Rivals followed by Scout.

If someone has an opinion that is different from your's that doesn't make them an idiot or a fool. They have a different thought process and influences that led them to that conclusion. Every Auburn fan thinks Auburn is doing better, every Alabama fan thinks Alabama is doing better. Alabama didn't sign as many players as Auburn last I heard I think 32 or 33 to 27, also Alabama had some positions to fill and a sane person would agree Chizik has a team to build. So much like Alabama 07-08 they gobbled up everyone they could that was good. Now, let's see how badly a simple point can be misunderstood or misinterpreted........

no you weren't as clear as you could have been because you were more clear in your statement here lol. i agree of coarse that 4.4 in high school is a major difference than 4.4 in college. of coarse, that statement doesnt even have to be made because it is just known. HOWEVER, why would you go get a guy that runs 4.8 when you could have 4.4. as i said earlier 4.3 is a RARE RARE find and 4.4 is top notch and YES it does make a huge difference. if you have ever ran track raced anything you know what that .01 means to the race. having a skilled guy running 4.4 or lower is a GREAT asset just as getting a LB,DB running 4.5 to 4.7 is important.

I don't know how they do it in Auburn but in Tusk-ca-loosa a 4.4 in 40 yards is 4.4 seconds in preschool, grade school, high school, college, hell even a nursing home. no its based on his actions. never met the guy. just a perception i have of the guy after being in the media spotlight for few years from michigan state to bammer. the way he carries himself, the hissy fits he throws about certain topics in front of the camera (ie recently spencer region about how important your "word" and "commitment" is when he can't do the same), and things like that. like i said i think the guy is an AWESOME coach and a great recruiter but as a person i don't think much of him. does that hurt your feelings?

Every night me and my girls usually watch basketball. As for the Alabama Auburn game my wife and I were there in Auburn. I am excited to see what Grant is going to do but this who year has been a year of nail biters for Alabama basketball. What is the deal with Texas going to the Big 10.....that makes 0 sense because of the rivalries they will lose for more money.

man the whole texas thing pisses me off. there are many things wrong with this but also right which is why i hate it. MOSTLY because norte dame is to big of a PUSSSY to join a conference in fear of being at the bottom and losing their abc contract which i don't think they should have anyways.

some good points for texas to big 10
- more money
- big ten championship game
- helps bring the big 10 back to what it use to be
- will create new rivalries in a hurry!
- texas will more than likely still play oklahoma every year. (like ND vs USC)

some bad points
- it sucks because texas belongs in the big 12 lol. this is just fucking weird. its like putting a shoe on the wrong foot.
- texas is a LONG way away and this presents many problems. expensive, traveling fans base and etc.
- if texas doesn't continue to play oklahoma that will upset a HUGE amount of fans. we will be losing one of the greatest and oldest sports rivalries of all time.

there is so much more that could be talked about but thats just a few things that stick out to me. big 10 has EVERYTHING to gain and big 12 has everything to lose. its like trading Kobe for Mark Eaton

The conversation of Texas to Big 10 is gaining steam.....also it is being kicked around Arkansas will leave SEC and go to Big 12 and the SEC will get either Clemson (like we need another Vandy/whipping post) or Florida State. Should be interesting.

IMO though, it would be an Arkansas exit, and Georgia Tech enter. Georgia Tech was actually once a part of the present day SEC.

I would rather have Clemson than GA Tech....they left the SEC why would they want to get back in? When I said Clemson would be another Vandy I maybe gave Vandy too much credit. I don't think going through the rigors of the SEC every weekend, Clemson wouldn't even be a middle of the road team I think. GA Tech does nothing for me. Clemson would give SC two teams in the SEC.

idealy, pitt, rutgers, mizzu, iowa st all make sense for the big 10. iowa st makes the most sense because of iowa. but would would want iowa st to join the sec...no they would bring use down. this is all about money.

imo, ark to the big 12 would be cool and make sense. then clemson or g. tech would be a great addition to the sec. both would win some games and give you trouble from time to time. vandy doesnt even compare to clemson really. but i don't think georgia would move to the sec west. that would be weird. they would probably move vandy to the west.

this way you still have 3 great football schools in each sec conference

If I were the AD at a major school like Florida St, Ga Tech or Clemson and the SEC called me, I would resew all jerseys and paint over all the ACC logos personally. That is like managing at a McDonald's and Bill Gates walk in and like your style and offer you a mid level job. Sure you might be top dog where you are and have the possibility for "greatness" at that level, but even as a mid level employee for IBM the possibilities are much greater as well as pay. Plus it will look much better on a resume.

The SEC with the new contract with ESPN has the college sports world by the balls. It would help greatly with recruiting, budget, fan base, media coverage for everyone involved (meaning coaches and assistants), and elevate the entire University to another level of exposure. The hype from being on TV all the time with most all sports would create more interest in the school and help with new student admission. I read some where that since Saban (who will cure all types of cancer when he retires) has come to Alabama; student admission, profit and donations have all grown. Same with Chizik (who will be cured by and forever in debt to Saban) if they have a really good year next year.

My point being that with the SEC you get so much more exposure at the expense (in football) of playing tougher opponents for all those positives. Now in basketball save for Tenn and Kentucky the SEC is usually pretty easy. I think it is the biggest no brainier ever, so what at the competition.

agreed a move to the sec would be an upgrade for any team in my opinion. of coarse this is from an sec guy. but most would and do agree if they are real with themselves. most analysts agree that the sec is WIN. but from fl states stand point i think it would be a questionable move since they and v tech are pretty solid front runners for the acc title every year which brings in a LOT of money for the school. coming to the sec would insure fl states title hopes to be zero or rare at best.

just look at what fl states resume. its impressive and over a long period of time and will continue. they could possible be removed from the spotlight of their conference coming to the sec.

Moved out:

Vandy - SEC east
Iowa St - Big 12 north
South Florida - Big East
??? - Big East

Moving in:

TCU - Big 12 north
GT - SEC east
??? - Big 10
South Florida - ACC

I also think the Big East is on the fast track to being dropped from the BCS. One of their teams (???) will probably end up being the team the Big 10 wants. I see Pitt, Cincy, WVU (Think of the Rich Rod rivalry!!) as possibilities. I don't see them adding a powerhouse team that's so different from the rest of the conference (Texas). The Big 12 isn't going to stand by and let one of, if not THE, flagship team of the conference go away.

If this all does go down with the Big 10 I would expect the Pac 10 to respond with adding Boise St and or BYU/Utah.

I went to Georgia's G-Day game last Saturday. I think everyone came away with more questions that we began with. The supposed 3rd string QB (Mettenburger) played the best out of the 3. However, you can't judge a player on just a spring game, plus Mettenburger is suspended for the 1st game of the year.

They barely played any 3-4, and when they did it was all the same package. I'm guessing they didn't want anyone to have film of us going into the year.

yeah its stupid. And really all it stops is the limo going to the schools. They never pulled up to the schools in the bus. And like Chizik did last night, the bus becomes an alumni and fan event to meet and greet the coaches while they are in the area they are visiting students.

So it appears that Nebraska is bolting for the Big 10(12). Any ideas on what happens to the Big 12(11)?

From what i've read, all the Texas schools, plus Colorado and Oklahoma would go to the Pac 10 if the Big 12 dissolved. That would start an arms race of sorts, i could see the SEC grabbing Fla State and Clemson and sticking with 14 teams total.

Ideas?

The SEC is safe. I dont think they need to panic like the other conferences are doing and try to take teams away from other conferences. The other conferences are making moves just to keep pace with the SEC. These moves might actually work in favor with a playoff system because now you have 4 great conferences. You now could have the con. champ from the Big 10 play the champ from the SEC and the champ from the PAC 10 play the champ from the ACC (or however you want to mix it up or even rotate it every year) then the two winners play each other for the National Title. Let the champ from the Big East play Dame every year in some bowl whatever bowl and all will be well LOL
