Of all the things I have done motorcycles and working out everyday are the two biggest things I miss. But after I get the girls come home and do everything I need to it is too late to go and by the time I help get them dressed and take them to school I can't go in the morning. My wife's work right now>than me but she is wanting to work PT come August so I will be able to start going back again......fuck I need it. I went from benching 320+ to probably not being able to do 250 now. What type of stuff are you taking?

When i was serious:

Animal Pak multivitamin
Glutamine
Whatever Whey protein i could get my hands on
NO-Xplod for pre work out
thats fairly general stack,
Now:

Fish Oil
On Gold Standard Whey
I have done a lot of studying on this and I also worked at Nutrition first for about 2 years so I can help if you need some advice.

First of all... for suppliments:
www.supplimentwarehouse.com
Second, I've been working out for only about 3-4 months now.. and I LOVE IT. So far I've only gone from 150 to 160 and 175 is my goal for now. So far I see minor results and have about doubled all my weights.
The only suppliment I use is ON Serious Mass because I'm a skinny guy and I have a high metabolism. I'm sure I would be lifting more and weigh more if I actually used as much of the stuff as I should.. but I probably only average a few servings a week lol.
What can I say, I enjoy the gym more than drinking the shakes. If any of you are serious I will post up my routine and numbers for critique since I'm still very new to it. I got the routine from a buddy and I go 3 times a week, 5 groups.
I have been meaning to get on a forum and get some advice but just haven't gotten around to it yet. =/
EDIT: BTW (don't make fun of my skinny weak noob ass :D ) right now I curl 20-25's, leg press about 175 and bench 45's (dumbbells). I do all the other crap those are just the most common so throwing it out there lol.

Its all about your diet when putting on serious weight, all the supplements in the world(minus steroids) wont make you big enough if you dont eat enough.. get very familiar with chicken and turkey and anything protein packed. Also, just stick with it, thats the number one key if you stick with it and set goals then you will always enjoy it.
Edit: Throw your routine up on here and I will take a look at it, i am not saying I am a pro but i have spent years looking over all this and in bodybuilding and strength training forums.

Not so much with the weights lately but I have been taking a traditional Aiki-Jujitsu class for the past 7 months and love it.
The overall structure of the class is not MMA based but rather traditional Japanese with very formal presentation. Obviously we do a great deal of technique with one on one partners but it isn't a ground and pound class which I like.
I started out wanting to take a Krav Maga class but when I found this I loved the laid back atmosphere and extremely bad ass skills the Sinsai was teaching the class.
I am not one to go hit the weights, never have been even when I was working out twice a day I get bored, but this peaks my interests on an intellectual level and keeps me engaged.
I have used www.1fast400.com for protein purchases and whatnot, and they have been very fast with shipping and all transactions have been trouble free. Lately, www.smartpowders.com had some sales going on protein that were some decent deals, so I may consider them when I need some more.
Only supplement I consistently take(other than a multi vit, fish oil, etc) is ON 100% whey in double chocolate. Been using this stuff for 5yrs now. Taste isn't too strong and isn't too weak so it never becomes over bearing. Currently using a pre-work NO enhancer called White Flood by Controlled Labs to get me fired up before the gym. I have kind of been dragging ass lately and this stuff does an excellent job. Once its out I will go stim free for probably the rest of the year. Stim's are rarely a part of my lifting routine.

Hahahahah, i figured you would chime in. All the McGowins take is protein... ever. Jimmy as far as a routine and all of that or supplements, just start with whey and a good multivitamin regiment and just start eating right. I have stopped drinking soda, started eating a lot of chicken, turkey, whole grain stuff and cut out most of my fast food and just started doing a little more portion control and I am losing weight pretty regular about a pound to 2lbs a week if i train really hard. I would stay away from diet pills and all that, the best way to drop is to find something that is thermogenic that raises your body heat and sweats a lot of the water and such out of you, but its all about what you wanna do. There is still ephedra out there and most of the guys will say go ECA stack(Ephedra/Caffeine/Asprin) but that will probably kill you, Hydroxycut is apparently causing liver problems now, Lipo6 is ok but i havent really seen anything solid out of it. Main thing is diet and the way that you lift. I lost 35lbs in a summer but just busting my ass in the gym and eating the right way.
Work out plan: Med weights with 3 sets of 10-12 reps and keep the rest time low and your heart rate up.

My all time best is 223lbs to 194lbs in 1.5 months. Diet strict as hell and averaging ~1800cals/day. No cheat days and 10~15 miles per week running. I lost a good bit of muscle along the way though, so that stunk. I have been slowly cutting here lately and it has worked great. I have kept almost every once of muscle I gained over the past few months and my b/f has been steadily dropping.

meh. I might oughta start taking some sort of supplement, but I'm not right now. I just hit the gym for about an hour after work, bout half of it for cardio.
just recently added leg stuff, pressed 220 or so the first time, shouldn't be more than a week or two to get that up around 250-270, but i'm not in there to build huge mass, just trying to get toned a bit and just be in better overall shape. Makes it easier to sling around the 75-100lb cylinder heads and shit.

Yeah there isnt much room to keep as muscle if you are cutting that hard, it is very difficult but i have seen people do it. There are few supplements that allow it but I am not naming names.
I don't mess around with those kinds of "supplements" lol. Weighed in yesterday at 207lbs. I am gonna try and maintain this weight and see if I can eek any more strength out of my body. My big 3 is total'ing 1335 at the moment, so I am pleased with my strength in regards to my size.

Nothing but ON whey protein here, as usual for the McGowins. My all time weight loss record was 230 to 185 in 7 weeks. 1200 calories and running 2 miles a day. I looked a like a complete loser at that weight though, being 6'2. Started working out regularly and eating a lot more about 7 months ago, up to 225 now and could stand to lose about 10 pounds to be in great shape. HUGE difference in arms/chest/legs/back. I'm real pleased.

In 05-06 I was down to a low of 229 an I am 6'2" which was my target weight but then I realized it was too small for my frame, so I started working out. Got to 240-245 and was happy, then messed up my back and had to take opiates which for me made me gain weight. Right now I am 266 and want to get back down but no matter what I do diet wise it seems as I can't get any off. I work out at nights (Wii but better than nothing) plus my job I am pretty active. I have since gotten off opiates and need to get the weight off and build to the muscle I have. I didn't lose a great deal from my max but some. Suggestions?

Been doing P90 (not to be confused with P90X) for 2 weeks now with the resistance bands and have really enjoyed it. It's cheaper and easier than going to a gym. Since I started my job back in July I haven't done a lot of physical activity so I'm just trying to maintain my weight, cut a little fat, and build a little muscle while not killing myself. Works for me :)

It will get worse Sam. The biggest thing to change after having kids is time. For me it seems as if I am always doing something for them or with them. The biggest thing for me about the gym was a routine. For instance this morning, I got up and got a shower while I am in there Stacey asked me if I could take them as she needed to get to work earlier. In the afternoons I might have to get them and watch them until 8 at times. It gets worse Sam.....be prepared.

I have been doing P90X for 2 months now. I have put on about 10lbs of muscle and have seen my strength, agility, flexability and speed all increase dramatically. I am 6 ft flat and weighed about 170 when I started now I am up to 180 and would like to see another 5lbs. I am very impressed with the program and have not even been following the diet. I have just been trying to eat healthy with a few splurges here and there.

Whey, multi, and fish oil.
Highest was 235 in college, sitting at about 178 right now. I was maintaing my strength at the same level or higher when i was at 235lbs when i was 185. Since then about the last month or so i have been traveling ever week or every two weeks in a different place each time for da jerb. Once i get settled in a location ill join back up.
My weight loss has been slow and sustained for the last year and half or so. I kept trying the dash for results thing on spring breaks and what not, only to gain it all back after the event. I realized whats the point, i was fat...i was obviously doing something wrong. Well what could that be? Obviously eating to much of the wrong kind of foods and not exercising enough. Just. That. Simple. Dailed back my daily consumption, started eating smaller portions more often through the day and started doing more of all kinds of exercise. I realized a complete shift of thinking was necessary for me or else i wouldnt get anywhere.
For the record, i dont pay any attention to weight. I lose weight/burn fat until i look how i want to look, or work out till i get the strength that i want to have. More recenlty i have just been interested in looking how i want to look and just being plain healthy. If you are healthy and happy now, its pays off 10 fold in your future.
I actually like the sound of p90x curt, whats the point in having strength if you have no agility and quickness to use it you know? If all you want to do is be strong just to tell pep you are strong and to "look" big...well thats kinda like being a ricer you know.

I have really slacked off of lifting weights over the past year, but my arms have gotten bigger somehow. I was going to Body Pump a lot with my wife but recently she wanted me to buy P90X for her so I did. I decided to try it as well. I have been really busy this past week so I was only able to fit in 3 workouts but for these first couple of weeks I've been pretty impressed with the program. Plyometrics really kicks my ass, and I did a lot of that in high school so I thought I'd be used to it.
I really need to work on my flexibility. It's been going down the shitter since high school with as much lifting as I have been doing from then until now. I'll probably fit in some Stretch X stuff to iron out the kinks.

Thanks Dani! I have never tried P90 but I think the transition to its big brother should be pretty easy.

Ya, it is nice to be able to 'use' all of the benefits I am getting from the routine. I play in a summer baseball league and we had our first practice last weekend. I shaved half a second off my 60 yard time from last year, added 5 inches to my vertical and just felt more explosive during batting practice and especially fielding.
As far as gaining weight, I can stand to gain weight at my height and I didnt want to lose weight. I have been using weigh protein after all the workouts, including the cardio, to maintain and build muscle mass.

Whats the point in being quick and having agility, if the only point is to tell people you are quick and have agility? They are one in the same.
The fact is, unless your a professional athelete, neither is "worth" anything. Its only worth what it means to you. If you want to be quick and agile, more power to you. However, that is worth nothing more than the guy in the corner squating 500lbs.

Sure, depends on what you want. To me its like having 500hp vs 900hp. The 500hp car will in general be a better, more useful all around car while still being while still being much faster then the general population. The 900 hp car is usually only good for highway roll ons or very specific applications, and usually takes more work to upkeep and maintain.
Not saying there is anything wrong with being strong, just as long as you have the agility to actually use it i guess.(i personally like the idea of that)
That train of thought can be easily picked apart...but i think you catch the drift of what im saying
I understand what you are saying diablo del swine, just don't let your perception of something dictate your thought process.
FYI, only in extreme cases of strength(powerlifters) does the ability to lift something heavy actually inhibit one's agility as most people would define it. As evidence of the fact, you will find stupidly strong football players who are also among the quickest and fastest people on the planet. Baisically, there is no amount of strength anyone on this forum could acquire that would keep them from being agile or attaining it.

Started hitting the gym again, and not just going to BJJ class. I missed it, i dont have a huge spot to work out but its better than not being in there. I am doing a basic 4 day split something like:
Mon: Chest and Bis
Tuesday:Legs and cardio
Wed: Back and Tris
Thurs: Abs and shoulders
It needs tweeking but i will fine tune it once i can commit to a solid 4 day regiment without work or something else getting in the way of my routine times.
