I just need to figure out if anyone has/knows how to file a "request for discovery". The clerks are very evasive and obscure. I half expected to fill out some formal documents but all they say is "submit it in writing with what you need" without indications as to form/format or who to send it to.

Yes...traffic court :)

Seems like a fun way to participate in the lovely government which we all pay for. I would just like the experience more than anything.

Why in the hell would you file for discovery on a speeding ticket......... the "discovery" is the bullshit the cop wrote down on the traffic ticket, nothing else will exist...... it isn't a DUI.

Don't know ANYTHING about traffic court procedures, but I would imagine there could be other relevant evidence to discover? calibration procedure and records for equipment (if they even do that, or if they record it, I wouldn't know), audio tapes on the dispatch for the stop (if they keep it for routine traffic stops, I wouldn't know), dash cam video tape of the stop, or any other type of record relevant to putting a hole in the case. Just thinking . . .a lot of BS for a traffic ticket that could just be paid if you were speeding, but if you are bored or if it's worth enough to you it could be fun.

But maybe nothing is kept unless there is a processed arrest or something? Who knows.

Exactly. Or even if he has any data on me period. I was his second choice, he went after another car first , he may have assumed based on a visual estimate I was pacing the lead car..and only has speed data on the lead car...we both ended up getting tickets though. And the ticket is nothing more than an accusation. I refuse to hand over my money when I was "traveling at a safe speed for conditions". I only have this irate state troopers word for it. a signed piece of paper saying he is "accusing" me of a crime which Im not sure is very accurate...
