can you come now...its the KLEZ WORM.

http://securityresponse.symantec.com/avcenter/FixKlez.com

That'll remove Klez from your cpu...

And btw... You can only get Klez if your running outlook. Then my next move would be to not open any other files or folders and go directly to the Auburn website to get the FREE McAfee Antivirus software...

If you need any help after that 334-524-6241

I received one of those e-bay e-mails yesterday. However, I didn't open it. I think I just deleted it. Sorry your computer caught a cold. But, I didn't e-mail you anything.

If you didn't directly email it to mike yourself, then you have the virus as well.

OK... To clear up a little misunderstanding...
Klez, it's a doozy of a virus...

OK... Let me walk you through a Klez infection real quick...

You receive an infected email (don't worry about who it's from, it's not from that person).
Klez attacks your computer including it's virus package randomly around in different files on your computer.
Then pulls all the email addresses it can find from your address book and all cached webpages on your computer.
Then sends out an email to all the addresses it has collected. It also includes a random file from your computer as an attachment.
Now the catch is that the virus doesn't use your name as the From: field in the email. It uses one of the email addresses it's captured.

So you get infected. It collects 3 email addresses from your computer.
adam@auburn.edu, joe@hotmail.com, bob@yahoo.com.

This is what happens.
The virus is sent to
adam@auburn.edu ---- From joe@hotmail.com
joe@hotmail.com ----- From bob@yahoo.com
bob@yahoo.com ----- From adam@auburn.edu

So... No matter who you received it from... It doesn't matter, it's usually not the person that is infected to begin with.

Also to clear Kelli. She didn't send anyone the virus. She couldn't have sent anyone the virus because she uses a Mac :D... Mac's can't get infected w/ Klez so it couldn't be possible.

Hope this clears up a few things.

Thats what i told her....if she mailed it to me and didn't know it then she has klez and doesn't know she does.

As soon as you see the starting windows 98 screen press F8 immediatly...

Then choose boot into safe mode.

[edit]

BTW.. I was thinking... No I didn't send anyone a virus as well.. If your infected or anyone you know is infected there is probably a high likely hood that my domain std64.com is included in some emails...

I didn't send anyone a virus but, if you've ever surfed any pages under my domain std64.com(like right now) my email address is included in your website cache. Therefore my email address would be included in your Klez email you received...

It's a fairly complicated little virus... Ask me to explain it to you one day when I'm drunk. It makes more sense to me then....
