I need to get some new tires for my car. I would like to carry it to a place that takes their time and won't take 8" of paint off my wheels. Also prefer some place that has a roadforce balancer. While cost certainly is considered I don't really car how much it is as long as they do a great job.

I was going to carry it to BMW of Montgomery but the service manager there can't match the prices I can get for the same BMW part number at Tischer BMW and won't install tires they don't sell.

Thanks,

Todd

Mike Patton Ford in Opelika, ask for Judd to do the work. They have a road force balancer and a good tire machine. You have to request road force balancing.

Hrmm..wouldn't recommend Grady's for anything other than a beater...

And Grady's put a pretty nasty gash in one of the lips when they were mounting the tires Friday. I didn't really notice until after I drove away. I was too anxious to get them on the car to wait until today to take them back up there.

I have never had any issue with Grady's, and it is who I recommend. Also keep in mind that as careful as people try to be accidents do happen.

I have mounted numerous expensive wheels there, pretty much all my wheels go through Gradys....

I was just about to reference that exact post. I've had a few sets of tires mounted at Grady's. This last time was the first negative experience that I've had with them. Honestly, I should have been a little more attentive when I picked the wheels up, so I could have asked what happened. If I had gotten my wheels powder coated, then I'd be pretty pissed about it. But it was just a rattle can job.

I'll probably continue to go to them because they are nice guys, have good turn around time, and they're really cheap. I paid $50 to have all four tires dismounted from one set of wheels, then remounted on another set, and balanced. Granted they were only 205/50-15 tires, so I don't think they had too much trouble with them.

+1

Really the only logical choice.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Anywhere in Montgomery? Since I have a vert, I will have to have a buddy carry them to the place for me and that would be closer. Again not against going to Opelika if it is better, just feeling out my options.

We have a roadforce balancer at Jack Ingram Nissan, but depending on the face of the wheels you may or may not want us to use our machine to mount. (ie. if your wheels have a lip or they are reverse mount you would be ok, if they are like aftermarket csl replicas or where the spokes come in contact with the outer part of the barrel I would recommend somewhere else.

Yeah I guess my wheels are the latter. I had a flat fixed a while back and Gibson's Tire in Prattville took about 8" of paint off right at the edge of the rim. Not too bad, and I know stuff like that is hard to do, just would like for them not all to look like that.

I can do this for you if you like. I have a tire machine that has a plastic head and never comes in contact with the wheel. I think i can get those tires to balance out without using a road force balancer. I'm located in montgomery and can be reached at 33 4 284 6 4 43

I just figured I would post up what I decided to go with.

Momentum Motorworks in Bham has a Corghi Artiglio Master tire machine and Hunter GSP9700 roadforce balancer. Plus they are a preferred TireRack installer so I can just have my tires shipped directly to them.

They may not be the closest and most likely not anywhere near the cheapest but they seem to have the setup to do it right.

Only bad part is I will have to break away from work to have it done as they are only open Mon-Fri 8-5.

I had Gibsons do my BBS wheels and I had no issues...

Yeah I think I am done with them. They are less than a mile from the house, but are the ones that scratched my current wheel and a few years ago broke a wheel lock off and gave me my car back saying oh well. I ended up having to take the hub off and drill it out from the back side.

Guess everyone has good luck and bad, but I will drive 100 miles and pay 2x as much to deal with someone other than them.
