South Africa tied Mexico 1-1 in the opening round of group play for those who missed it... its a pretty big upset for SA, bc they were suposed to be beat badly.

Now i've played soccer for many years and thought i'd always understood the offsides rule until today. early in the game mexico scored a goal from a corner, but was called offsides. found out today that the rule for offsides states there must be TWO players between/beside the attacker and the goal, including the goalie. since the goalie had pulled forward to block the cross, there was only one defender, and thus he was offsides.

I'm floored that we let england score in the first 5 minutes of the game and still got the draw. thank goodness. i was worried because we came out sloppy and lazy on D. played a great second half, got the lucky goal before the first half ended and IMO a draw is a win for us against england lol. :meatwad:

WOOT!! awesome game by Mexico... first half bunker down into a defensive wall and then in the second half they turned on the offense! France looked confused and dumbfounded, as if they hadn't been playing together in years.

*for those who missed it, Mexico beat France 2-0. first time they've ever beaten france.
