I'm about to pull my hair out. someone please help me.
I have DW CS5 and my hosting company is brinkster. I have a domain name that was registered with enom and i changed the dns to direct to brinkster. this was a week ago. I tried to login to the ftp with dreamweaver and i get the ftp error message. I also cannot login using filezilla (ftp client). i have been in a chat with brinkster support for an hour and they can't figure out whats wrong. brinkster said they could connect fine. they tell me it is a local issue. what could be happening here? if anyone has a solution please help!
i have other websites i have created using DW and brinkster hosting and do not have an issue signing into those accounts, it's only the new domain i cannot get access to. all of my settings are correct as i sent a screen shot to the brinkster tech and he said it was correct.
i am using a wireless wpa2 connection. i have also tried it on a free network here at the apartment. no luck.
any help would be great! thanks guys!

update.
something is going on here. as i was on the chat with brinkster (hosting) he tells me my pass is wrong. yet i have been using this password to login to brinksters website for 2 weeks now. he says my brinkster login password and ftp password are the same but i have it wrong. so i go to login to brinksters website with the old password and it doesn't work all of the sudden! now the password he gave me works to login on brnksters website. but still not through dreamweaver or and ftpclient. it almost seems like he changed it?? it was exactly the same but missing the last character.
i sent the new password to clint(frosty) and he could login through an ftpclient.
WTF!!!!! i have NO firewall. and port 21 is what i use for my other sites and they work fine so port 21 cannot be blocked correct?

nevermind...not fixed :/
i went to my friends apartment in my complex. cleared my network settings and tried the ftp and the dreamweaver ftp and it worked. when i came back to my apartment and tried it, it doesn't work. so basically it is has something to do with my internet?
its wireless and i have permission to use it. it is wpa2 protected. port 21 has to be open since i can login to my other brinkster accounts through dreamweaver and ftp. anyone want to take a guess?

Check your computers Wireless settings to the settings of the wireless routers settings. I had this issue with my PC and the host computer for the wireless at my house. I had a different type of protection/authorization on my computer than the router/host computer.
Just a guess...I wasnt able to log in to my School accounts on my computer for a few weeks until I made the changes...

nslookup and/or dig are you friend. Double check your DNS server locally for a bad/old ip address for the the domain.
You tried logging onto it via an ip address instead of a DNS name?
Also do a traceroute and make sure are getting to the server in generally the same way from there. Hit me up on AIM (jasgrider) or googlechat (honigtheapothecary@gmail.com); its slow in the office at the moment.

so basically, grider is dA mane.
my idiot hosting company blocked my IP....wtf. they blocked it because basically they messed up my login password and i had to many failed login attempts. so after about 1-2 weeks it has been their fault and they could not find out the problem.
i'm on google chat with grider for 10 minutes or less and he solves it.
FUUUUUUFUFUFUUUUUUUUUUU! that shit pisses me off so bad. anyways, grider thanks a ton. i owe ya a beer next time i'm in huntsville.:pimp:
