The girlfriends 05 1.8t passat is misfiring at idle and under heavyish load. Started out with just a 50-100 rpm drop at idle, primarily when in drive at random intervals. The coilpacks were replace later 10' but after looking at them they have two different codes on them 191-1001 and 191-0912 (neither of which i could find with a search) on two each of the "coilpacks". I'm calling the raise hell at the shop that either put in mismatched coilpacks, (sounds like a bad idea to me) or only replace the two that were problematic at the time tomorrow (charged for all 4). When I pulled the plugs they looked decent for the age despite one being gapped to around 29 thousands and the others 31-32. I've been browsing forums trying to figure out what the best replacement, durability as the primary focus, would be. I've been looking on ECS tuning, and the new oem revision D's (pop in) seem like they would be alright(good price too), but if it's worth it, i'd go with the hitachi E bolt downs or other E or R revisions. Car is currently completely stock with 80ish K automatic. I have double platinum NGK's gapped to 32 thousandths ready to put in. Any way to test the ignition wiring harness or should I go ahead and replace that as well?
It'd be nice to surprise her with an APR stage 1 software upgrade at some point, just a matter of when i have the extra the $$. Any other maintenance I should be concerned about at this point? Just cleaned the MAF, IAT sensor, and throttle body. If anyone with VAG-com wants to help clarify the diagnosis, it'd be much appreciated and i'd be willing to compensate with a car detailing, beer, or whatever reasonable.
