Track sucked and that car just couldn't come off the line hard. A lot of initial tq, but not enough to get low 6o's unless I powerbreak it with some better tires as powerbreaking it with those tires just induced wheelspin. Ran a best of a 14.923@94.5mph with a pos 2.45 60'. Def a mid 14sec car with a lower 60'. Only "mod" was a removed intake lid that gave a 1mph increase on trap speed and some sweet sounding vtec.

I'm suprised you guys haven't figured this out by now. I didn't get my car to drag race it. I was just simply saying that my trap speed should be very comparable to the TL-S due to what I have seen in the past from previous races.

Pulling a good 60' is waaay harder than you think and its just another form of self competition (most of the time) to keep besting yourself as a driver. It's also alot more fun for us all motor guys. People come up to us and are like "oh you don't have a turbo, wanna run?" thinking we aren't quick, so it can become pretty entertaining when you walk someone down that isn't expecting it.

Uh Cameron chief you seem to be missing out on the reading skills. You are the one making comments when you've never been to the strip. You see Clint has actually gone and ran his car, both the hatch and the GTI. He ran the hatch several times and got a base line. Since he didn't throw any more mods in it and it was getting very old with money needing to go to other parts so it could run safe he didn't feel like pushing his luck was the best thing to do on a college budget. He doesn't seem to be having a smart mouth at all.

The roadracing comment is being pretty boastful and is bench racing at its finest especially considering Clint just said he's not going to take it to a roadcourse. Pretty easy to call someone out on something once they've already said their not going to do it.

I would also be weary of your driving abilities seeing as Micheal absolutely spanked your times with the S2000 and RSX in the Passat by MANY seconds with speed restrictions and going the slow way around the course. The Passat wasn't wearing near as good of tires as the S2000 has either. Remember you did a LAPPING event, you weren't road racing so I don't know where the high horse comes from. As for developing driver skill and car control I'll put auto-x above it anyday and thats because I've heard it from a few dozen roadracers.

It's also funny that while I was in Auburn I competed in 5 autocross events (3 in Birmingham, 1 in ATL, 1 in Dothan) and never saw you at any even though I always posted when I was going and tried to get a caravan. Maybe you'll come to the next one. We can even register as two drivers if you want so we can both run the same car just for comparison sake. Might help both of us to learn the techniques of the faster driver, whoever it may be. You up for that?[/b]

This is funny because Clint and I went to one with Brock. It didn't cost us a dime, we just rode along. But we learned some interesting techniques and talked to some good drivers, so that when we actually had money to do it, we would be more prepared.

BTW, road racing is WHEEL-TO-WHEEL, not where 3 cars on the track at the same time and pass-by's are the only time they can pass.

As far as road racing goes, Cam you aren't experienced by any means, you have only been once.

At least, until you get some other mods to your car, b/c you'll know what it can do. We're not going to make fun of you if you can't run a good time. Hell I was running 15.9's at 89mph :? That was before I really learned how to modulate. Jimmy was pulling 2.6 60 foots. Now he is running consistent 2.3's and a good time to back it up.

I've seen the video, don't remember you walking him down anywhere, but that doesn't mean much to me. I've beaten many "instructors" at auto-x but thats nothing super special.

Funny you mention the video, because it showed that you don't know how to heel-n-toe downshift (no rev matching could be heard under braking), that and you said you didn't :P . For that reason alone the instructor should have been killing you if he was any good. That's one of the most fundamental techniques to learn.

actually i'm running the maps I used at the track on pump now, so the car pretty much is as fast as that all the time ;)
