I found a red 92 civic hatch with a 1.5 TBI motor. Needs shocks and probably new hubs up front, and most likely 2 new axles, and could use a new throttlebody oh yeah and new front calipers and maybe rear drum covers.

Its got a fair amount of rust under the car which could be sanded and painted. Interior is pretty nice and body/paint is great. I figure I could either.

a)get the motor running, clean it up and sell it for ~$2000 with an investment of about $700-$1000

b)turbo it. it'll cost around $1200 - $1500 and sell it for ~$3000

lemme know whatchyoo guys think

Is there a point to turbo-ing the 1.5L motor? I really haven't heard much about people doing this.

Thats a good point. Ive seen it done. Main point in to sell a 'turbo civic' to some ricer basically. You could add $600 or so for a 1.6 swap and prolly another 40 hp

Invest in real estate not cars, or so they say.

What is wrong with the motor?

its a 1.5 throttle body injectoion motor. it might be turbo-able but it at least needs a new throttle body. its rusted all to shit.

Its a canadian model, so its seen a lot of salt

I know the guy who is selling that car personally. He's one of my very good friends. Get in touch with me about it and maybe we can throw something together.

It has 180 Km on it so that comes out to around 108 miles if I'm correct.

It is very rusty, but I think it only needs one brake caliper and new brake lines as well.

BTW, I don't think there is any way you could sell that car back to someone for $2000.00 unless it was seriously cleaned up and somewhat modified. I know what he wants for the car and what he will take for the lowest bid. Just my .02 cents.

Change the intake and injector misc and turbo it. A ricer would shit his pants if you only wanted like 3k for it. Bondo the shit out of it too.

I take some of that back. If you do find some stupid ricer, you could he would give you anything for it.

Thanks Cameron. I was thinking of offering $200. It does need a fair amount of work. I think though he was playing dumb about the condition of the car. I mentioned that it probably needed brake lines and he seemed oblivious about it. As far as the caliper, he said that he thinks it needed a brake pad clip or something, but I figured the calipers are probably just rusted seized. A trip to b'ham would probably get me all the parts I need to fix it for ~$150 or so.

Another minor issue is my g/f. we got into a little argument about getting it. shes pretty peeved but I think i might get it anyways but i'd like to look at it in the daylight and stomp on a few bits to see if they'll break.

If you are buying it just to sell, don' modify it. Just turn it around as quickly as you can and make some money with the least amount of work. Sure, maybe you'd make more money overall if you turbo'd it, but how much more? And is it worth all the time you'd spend on it. Usually the answer to that is no, from my experience anyway.

good point. thats what i've been thinking lately. I need to look at it again and see if i can tell if its really gonna need brake lines, cuz that prolly gonna be a bitch. Turboing always sounds cheap but ends up nickeling and diming to death. best case scenario I could get it running for $200-$250 i thinks.

I ended up saying no thanks. He'll take $100 for it. Its a 90 or 91 btw

If I had a good place for it then it would be a good parts car. I could use a few body panels and trim pieces.

I had the chance to get one for FREE from richard ( guy micheal bought his LS from) but alas, I had no where to put it.

The interior was spraypainted grey (overspray on the winshield) as was rollin APC girl style.
