i just bought these seats:

and i have no idea how to mount them. my guess is i need to get in contact with a local machine shop and get some fabricated. some problems with that: the car they are going in has no seats, it has no tag, is not regestered, and is not insured. this pretty much means it isnt going very far.

i just want to know if anyone has some experience with doing this and can give me some direction.

Nice seats BTW. You might want to try taking the stock rails off of the stock seats and mounting them to those seats, if you want adjustability. Or you could weld the seat directly to the car. I'm sure any machine shop would take care of that for you.

both of those options have already been tried. the stock rails are very weird and wold not work. mounting to the floor doesnt work either b/c the mount poins on the floor board are too far apart. i basically want to talk to someone who has done it before.

LOL, ass. Is this really that hard? Just get someone to weld in some square tubes from 1 'mounting pin' to another. Then weld the seat to those bars.

Weld the seat directly to the car BWHAHAHA

Yeah if you have access to a grinding wheel, a dremel, and a drill you can fab something from square tube or angle iron. Otherwise find a fab shop to help you out (tow the car if you have to, but c'mon this is AL you can drive a shopping cart on the roads here ;) )

heh, kinna hard to drive it w/o seats.

you know, i might just try and to it myself. i just need to aquire some tubing. for my ideal design i would need a welder. plus, i dont wanna fuck up and wind up killing myself in a wreck.

For a second there...I thought you bought those kirkeys for your SOOB! Have you tried JCWHITNEY or SUMMITRACING...call a shop in town that can Fab you some Brackets...they dont need to move really...set it to the place you need it and then mount the Seat.

find something reputable... Don't just throw together the first half assed idea that pops up (like welding seats directly to the floorboard so your staring at the dash). I suggest calling Kirkley and ask them how you sould approach this. Sounds like too much risk involved for some metal bars and custom welding.

don't forget to check your left main seal while you're in there
