AE86, badass. you should paint it panda colors just like Takumi's in Initial D.

Dude, drop an SR20 in there. Heck even an NA one. You can make 200 hp NA w/ an sr20 for cheap or turbocharge it w/ a T25 setup and have 230 whp for 1k (while still keeping a totally reliable motor and reving to 8K+) ;)

An SR5 is technically an eight-five if I'm not mistaken. Cool car either way.

lol, just like in Initial D when Itsuki gets a Hachi-go thinking it was a Hachi-Roku. of course, with an engine swap it doesnt matter.

Well, the engine management we are looking at is about 820 from E&E systems from Japan, called the Freedom ECU. Its a self programming ecu that adjusts the A/F to the position of the throttle for optimum performance or economy, depending on the setting you put it on. Its just a bit costly so we are going with a stock....for now.

03-10-2004, 01:57 AM
its all good fellas...we are working thru the quarks and money situation...the main components not being bid on or looking to be purchased are a Wiring harness, an Engine, and the MISc parts to make this bad GIRL run...I am lookin at around 5000 dollar TOTAL. That is including a paint job and possibly some Racing seats, harness', and little tid bits like that :P. I am hoping to have pictures by tomorrow...that is if anyone heads out to the brooks tomorrow to take pics of her.

Umm, I won't be spending 325 dollars for freaking tail lights ;) Mine work just fine and when I finally get around to baking the things and pulling the lens from the rest of the unit, I'll just spray the inner surface of the lens with red tail light spray. Looks almost identical to the JDM ones for 300 less bucks.
Its on the list, I'm just waiting for it to be pefected along w/ the modding of the Ralliart Lancer wing to fit my car w/out having to add anymore holes.
Oh yeah, I just ordered this today too

That tip looks funny. Does the muff come out crooked, and the angled tip come out strait?

1. I'm not JDM tyte. I think 99% of that "JDM" garbage looks ghey as hell.
2. I had B&B on my A4 and it rocked
3. B&B isn't JDM, its normal, it dynos some of the highest gains and its quiet. The tip is normal and not JDM slanted.
4. Did I mention its not JDM?
5. Through a certain set of circumstance I paid literally next to nothing for this entire exhaust ($1k retail). :)

Greyson, that exhaust looks kick ass. I like the small tip that continues to utilize the factory bumper cut. My car just has a wider cut so a small tip like that would look weird, like on Jess's car haha, jk. But seriously, I happen to like the 'can' look that comes out slanted, as long as it sounds good. Here's the exhaust I'm getting: HKS Hiper (Hi Power). It's gonna be like $600 shipped, which kinda sucks.

I like cars that preform. My style of car is one that isn't necessarily a heap of junk, but is a sleeper. Its the type of car that when you roll up next to it, you wouldn't even second glance it...yet it blows your doors off. To me, cars that get respect through preformance are much more appreciated than "lookers". I do want to build a well rounded car one day though. One that is nasty fast and looks good to boot. However, it must be a classy look, one that fits the car.

Greyson, well you should know how we all feel about the EVOLUTION 8...yeah its bad ass(&fast) and it looks really cool and nice. But alass....I would preferr a car that looked slow as SHIT but was fast as hell! My accord is slow and looks decent...and my project car will be quick and NIMBLE :P. no matter what, everyone has a differing opinion about what they like about cars...john would rather strip a car out and have some face appeal...keep the inside clean but not cluttered or SHOWY! others like a little show with that GO! f22, one thing you need to add to that list: ADVIL, because there's going to be a whole lot of headaches along the way. Good luck man!
Michael and Greyson: I don't see it a whole lot of this in michael, but it seems like greyson is always trying to prove himself better than his brother. Greyson knows i admire him in a lot of ways besides cars, but one of the things that bothers me is this childish attitude regarding his brother. And it's really dissapointing to see such a smart person act so childish. "look i got a better toy" i used to do that with my brother when i was 4, now my brother trys to give me money so i can buy a Lexus and shares advice with me regarding women after i get laid on a tues night instead of going to a scar meeting (ya i got laid and i thought i would just stick that in there for no reason). Anyways, heres what i'm suggesting:
Both of you sit down and watch gone in 60 seconds together. You know the part at the end where kip buys his older brother Memphis a 1967 Shelby Cobra? Well Michael, youll be kip, and Greyson, your obviously going to be the gay guy that orders the pizzas and separates the keys from dog shit. Just watch that part and keep what i said in mind.

John, don't be mad because you want to drive a sorority girl car. We all know that kenny and i have given you a hard time about both of your cars, but don't take it personally.
Anyway, I did not buy the Evo to:
1. be cool
2. draw attention
3. impress
4. any of the above.
I bought the evo because I had a blast with my A4 and I wanted something else along those lines w/ more performance potential and I got a killer deal on it. I bought the Evo because its a blast to drive and I enjoy most aspects of the car. Personally, I think its ugly when you get right down to it. I think the STi is a much sexier car, albeit with less capabilities. With that in mind, I went with the rice mobile that had the most potential.
As far a my brother, you've got some more thinking to do on your hands. I like my brother's civic. I think its VERY cool, and I'm into the sleeper thing also. I've driven it on a few occasions and its downright scarey in a straight line (some of that has to do w/ the stock suspension and tires ;)). That said, and make sure you write this down, I am not trying to one up my brother with whatever I bought or say on the board. Michael and I both enjoy the same aspects of performance cars. I bought mine ready to go out of the box, he is putting his together. Thats awesome, I wish I could do the same, but I have no job like he does and I"m going to be poor for another 4 years while I go to med school. I need a car thats dead realiable. So back to my brother. There is always going to be some sibling rivalry, but its the same kind of rivalry you might have with some car buddies. Its a playful rivalry that some (you) might take to be something else. The only thing that turns our totally plutonic relationship into some sort of fight is when "friends" of ours think they have it all "figured out" and decide to comment on what they think the situation is. My brother is obviously my family and he's got the rights to the keys to the Evo whenever he askes (though he never does). So lets leave the futile attempts at family psychology out of Aspeed and in my home where it belongs. Thanks.

Greyson my bad for picking at you and the other guys turning into psycologists.
I'd own an EVO in .000001 seconds if I was given the chance.
Rivarly is a good thing, it would suck having a brother and having no competition against him. That would be half the fun IMO.

Back to the rivalry thing...if you cant razz your brother, who can you pick at?

LOTSA advil man. again, good luck, you're gonna need it and PLEASE don't be one of those people that always counts on other people (like jess) to do thier work for them (unless you plan to pay them). I really do hope you know what your getting yourself into here because its gonna take more than a few grand to get that thing even close to safe for general road use! Ok, you get the idea, so good luck. Later.

Safe for general Road use? It was safe for general road use less than four months ago...it might look rough but the car will not be costing me a ton to get it in good order. 5k good 6k excellent! I can handle working on my car myself...I might need help from jess and others occasionaly but just for their help...I couldnt spot myslef up for an IS300...so I had to go with a car needing some paint and TLC...and they dont make altezzas for it either :P ...the interior is intentionaly stripped and will remain as such...paint and a new engine are the next components...followed by an upgraded TRD suspension and Enki Rims with some nice rubber

don't be gay sparky. And lets not forget the volvo with minimalist investment that already makes your dream car scream and cry for moma... on the track and the road course. :owned:

If you need wheels, I may can help you. I bought some Konig Rewinds from T-3 two days before I bought my SSR's. I'll sell them if you need them. If not, I may keep them for Solo II.
A few pics..

The reason I'm selling the wheels is because I bought these...

HOLY CRAP! Clint's gonna tell us about two guys, a chair and a hotdog, and then proceed to hump the wheels..
I drove by and checked out the car in person. Looks pretty sweet. I wouldnt mind having one like that. I know a tiny bit about bondo, so de-rusting the rear shouldnt be TOO much of an issue I dont think.

Got lucky when I found them on Ebay. No one bidded on them; paid $500.
They're a bit scratched up, but it's little concern to me. I've already got tires and put them on the car - I'll post a few pics soon.

bump this cause I am a whore....
well...there is no way in hell we are going to be able to get the fucking transmission back in the damn car with the space we have and the constant worry of being told to take it elsewhere(in our case...there is no place else). I am resorting to a storage unit and then I will proceed to purchase the engine and an engine hoist and then install the engine and transmission as a whole unit. Much less trouble and less time consuming. First...I am going to strip the car to the bone once it gets in the storage unit...tails to head lights(need new tails any way, and a new door). all wires are going to be relocated and loomed.
This project car thing has just been a thought that found its way in to reality...it needs to step in to the realm of seriousness and get done. hopefully at the current pace I will have a nice FINISHED car by winter. Fingers crossed :( . all i want is a car that is barely street legal, meaning I have head lights, tail lights, and turn signals...and all of them work. Alright my rant is over...this was just a post whore bump because I am frustrated as hell

I have a new (harbour freight) engine hoist you can use if you need it. It's the fold-up style for you space-saving beetches.

I think I'm going to buy that red Supra from Paul / Ira. If I do, I can drop off the hoist in Auburn (if needed). I'm not going to do my 7M-GTE engine swap till fall, so I won't need it.
