Recommendations for good window tint place in town? I want a quality job that will not look shitty now, as well as not look shity in 5 years. ;)
I know nothing about tint, so if there is a certain brand or type to look for, let me know.
Its for my new turbo car hehe, its black and screaming for tint.

Go with 3M brand tint. It has a lifetime warranty etc., but I think they all do. Either way, this actually doesn't fade. It has a black pigment, as opposed to a brown or purple, so it won't turn that color. As far as I know, it's the best, if not way up there. I don't know of good places here... I know about in B'ham though hehe.
BTW, if you want to be legal, get 30-35% tint, but if you don't care (and shouldn't, I've never had any problems...) then get 20%. I had 35% 3M on my BMW, and have 20% on this car. The 20% is waaayyyy better, I can show you my car if you come to a meet.

There is a shop NEXT to Zen called db Boys. The guy that tints there is excellent. Wouldn't take it anywhere else.

I hear OB's shop will do it in trade of sexual favors.
Scott at Zen said they have a guy that comes by that does their tint. Supposedly he's real good

Ok what % and what film is it? That makes a huge difference when it comes to price...
i.e. I paid $325 for my coupe, but that included 20% 3M all around except for front windshield.

The place rules, and so does the tint. I don't know of anyone around here that sells 3M, but I didn't really look. It is gay though, it used to be $200, but since 20% is illegal, they started charging more for it... blah.

325 for tint? bwhhahhahahah
My friend paid 180 for his old crx, im not sure the %, but it was kinda smoked reflective looking, very nice.
Ive heard it turns purple when you wipe your windows with windex, and you are suppose to only use soapy water.
IM pretty sure mine is illegal since its a FL car. Oh well. Maybe I wont get stopped anytime soon, and if i do, ill roll it down really fast

I got it done at Radio World, it was $125 which is a good deal in my opinion. Its regular legal 32% all around , nothing on the windsheild. Its Lumar tint. It has a lifetime warranty, and they did an excellent job.
yep. $125 was what radio world quoted me too. lifetime warranty sure is tempting since i see all the brothas around town with purple tint bubbling up and peeling.

Changing color is because fools wash them with windex and other cleaners.

And also because they use purple glad-wrap

It also has to do with the pigment that the tint uses. Lumar is decent, but once again it uses either a brownish or purplish pigment. Over time it will fade into purple, but if you have the warranty (read it thouroughly) then you should be ok... though you'll probably have to pay for labor. Either way it will take a good 5 years. The whole washing thing... all it does is eat away the film, aka fade it faster, which yeah, turns it to purple faster... but on my tint (only gray/black dye), it just makes it lighter, doesn't turn it purple. And the only thing that hurts it is Windex or cleaners that have AMONIA in them.

cant you just buy replacement glass that has tint in it? This might seem totally ignorant...but Ignorance deserves an answer

Sure, but that would be a ton of money. There is also this F1 tint (Formula 1) that is around $500, it's applied then heated and it actually bakes into the glass, just like the windows you're talking about and/or windows that come tinted from the factory at a car dealer.
