View Full Version : Tell me about SC 400's
I want something fast

I got to thinking to my self(I know I know that is never good), about what kind of an odd little project car would be fun to have. I have seen a number of sc300s with turbo kits, if not the 2JZ-GTE swap all together. But what I haven't seen is any supped up SC-400s. I know a few around here in auburn including one that comes out to the meetings, but what exactly is the deal? Why are there no mods? Has anyone ever tried just doing simple stuff? Dare I ask if anyone has ever turboed, superd, or just done a cam swap? What about a compression upping or maybe a displacement improvement? Hell for that matter can you even tune the computer? I have read whims of some people putting AVC controlers, but being a Muscle car guy I have no idea what Apex-i's software is even capable of. Let me know, I am just terribly interested in turning this little black sheep in the Lexus world into a muscle machine. All the components are there (except for the manual), it just needs someone to push it through Pioneer it if you will.

Get a sc 300, they have a 2jz ge that is great for boosting. You can also find them in a manual if you are lucky. No one makes parts for teh v8 lex (i dont think)

Well after doing much research on the matter I have come to the conclusion that there are about two main companies that do. www.lexstreme.com, and www.planetsoarer.com. Both of those cater directly to the mod of the SC cars. I am absolutly appauled that our American culture would not have caught on to both of these cars potential faster. I have thought about the 300's but I have also seen a shit load of 2JZ swapped engines into those cars which is pointless. The engine that is in it, is almost verbatum the very same one. Less a difference in cams, intake, exhaust, and a pistons. What is so rediculous is that i found a site that has the information manual about both Supras, and it refers people to the fact that both Supras and the SC cars have the same exact engine verbatum. Of coarse the obvious differences in the turbo car. Anyway, I just don't care to have a supra right now, and that is why I have leaned away from doing the straight siz, but if it becomes to much of a chore I may make that an option.

Good find Blake thanks man. I might just have to do this after all. If I can find out what I am looking for, and that it isn't going to be impossible to tune the puter then I am gonna try to pick up like a 92 or so.

AWESOME!! make sure you buy some cutouts, could you imagine peoples reaction when they hear a wide open V8 coming out of a Lexus! it seems like the 1uz (i think thats the V8 ) isn't all that great from factory, ~180rwhp ~190rwtq, but with a few bolt ons they seem to do pretty good (high 13's/low 14's), and a supercharger they are dang fast. do it man!!

Just swap a 4.3 in there hehe, 300 hp at the crank. That would be pretty quick, if not high 13's. The SC430 is heavy as shit (3900 lbs I think.), and runs high 14's stock.

or you could not! i think it would be cheaper to mess with the 2jz, but the V8 would be MUCH cooler...

Correct, but he is talking about doing a 4.3 swap from the new SC430. Anyways, turbo 2JZ will own all.

Nope not a single stinking one came with a manual, so I would either have to find a bell housing that would fit or fab somehting up.

You can get a sc300 with a w58 5-speed (like my trans). Curb weight ~3650. Single turbo the 2jz-ge up to 500RWHP safely.
