I was curious as to how people felt about something that has been stiring in my mind...I wanted to submit an article of sorts to a prestegious "sport compact car magazine" (import tuner, sportcompact car, HCI)that deals with our group of individuals. wasnt going to use the name Aspeed or SCAR. Was just going to submit the article and wanted to know if it was cool with everyone on here...especially if I was to take pics of some of the cars that come out...collectively of course. Just wanting your thoughts on the matter...
This be what I got so far, excuse the gramatical errors...its late
Its drawn out through the week, through classes, work days, and even holidays; the arrival of ?MEET NIGHT.? That once a week event that draws an array of cars ranging from German Forced Induction to American Muscle. Supras of different ages and generations. EF-EP civics are there. The occasional Rx7 of FC or FD. Audi, VW all with boasting 1.8Ts even some supported by APR STAGE 3s. 240SXs some with KA others with SR20-CA18. 4g63s from Eclipse to Evolution. Compliments of Volvo, even the swedes have a car or two. FI and NA all laid aside, this is the beginning of the most fun of nights.
A flurry of color codes fall into place as cars engage e-brakes and let timers cool a warm drive over. As we fall into place and begin our evening conversation the faint sounds of exhaust tones and blow off valves catch our unsettled attention. Discussion runs from injector size to dampening force. The information gained from an hour or two with this group of people usually leaves little room for much else. I sit and listen( as most car newbies would)about boost levels, displacement, turbo lag, and what balance works.
As another arrives, more fresh to the scene than even myself, he or she is usually welcomed with a hello and sometimes with HELL NO. Policies of no rice accesories leave a sour taste in the mouths of local import sinners. Suggestions to help the misguided are always offered with subtle kindness. Aluminium wings, altezzas, LED flashers, and hub caps that spin, there is no room for such irrefutable trash.
Pureist at heart, I know them all to be. Some show, most go, they are all great to me. Quarter mile runners to Auto-X runners, all great people, with different purposes and asperations. Us in all of our differences, argue, agree, bicker and sometimes bitch. We are all friends, now and after our wonderful meets.
The night is somewhat ageless in this seemingly late hour, just as we arrived, we all seem to leave. Cars leave slowly awaiting another evening departure from this one great day in our week.
