I took the turbo hatch for a little auto-x action this weekend (the R is down for the engine rebuild). I knew it was going to suck being as it has way to much power and the stock suspension isn't exactly performance tuned , oh well all in good fun :P
Little did I know that I was basically going the auto-x equivalent of a road course. I've seen 3 different auto-x events, Bham is pretty big, Dothan was the best out of the others and most wide open (ATL wasn't very impressive IMO). This one blew the others away.
One lap clocked 1.1 MILE!!!!!! My best time was 67 seconds. That's an AVERAGE speed of 59mph on an auto-x course  . I approached 90mph on some of the straits
Being as it was hella fast the hatch didn't do all that bad. I think I probably ran about mid pack for all the cars that were there. However the surface was EXTREMELY rough on tires (it's the pavement made of sea shells). The Azenis also got major greasy whenthey got overheated (which happened really fast surprisingly) and then it was nothing but understeer city.
I was in EM, which is basically an unlimited modification class. I got schooled by a super charged, R compound, gutted Type-R. Second place was a Z24 Cavy with R compounds, GM performance super charger, suspension, etc. I did beat another hatch like mine with suspension and a B18B swap so I'm at least satisfied with that.
I think the fastest car of the day was an S2000 (fendered car that is) probably tailed closely by an STI.
If any of you guys can make it down next month lets try to hit this thing up.
