I love my dub, but these stupid electrical problems are killing me. The shop isnt sure whats screwed up, might be the computer, or a computer plus Maf. Its probably going to cost about 1k, includes the 135 i spend at the dealer for them to change the o2 sensor plus labor, and the rental car I drive to work (up to $178). The shop its at now has me down for 250 in labor so far, and If I get a computer, they will want me to get a new one which is about 400. I cant do this stuff myself because My tag has expired and I dont want to drive around much longer on it. The ad valorem tax on it is 250, plus late fees because I didnt regester it in the state early enough.
This shit is a huge headache. I love the car, its everything I want, but I dunno. I might have to break up with the dub.
I think i can sell it for 13k. People sell 2.0 golfs that are kinda fixed up for 12.5k. I bought mine for that much last year, and the prices are still really high. Damn, at dealers they have 2001 2.0 jettas for 16k. I can sell it now before the new golf comes out, and I think I can either make money or not lose much. i can put the downpipe back on and sell it to someone in a non-emission state and they wont care that it wont pass.
I think I can easily swing payments on a 25k car. But dammmit, I still love my dub.
Give me some suggestions on this topic. Oh yea, my dad will give me 11k, so my little sister will have a car. I tried to talk him up to 11.5, and he said no.

If you still can't figure it out, you always have VWvortex and Jess.

Ditch it! Get a new RSX-S. Haha.
If you're going to spend 25K, there's a number of cars you can get for that. Looks like most people are leaning toward the Japanese brands these days.

DOOD the shop I took it to said they did that and it looked ok. They used the VAGcom to look at what the ecu is doing, the 02 sensor should show 1s and 0s, but mine flashes all 0s sometimes, so the problem is intermittent. It is hard to explain. I just dont want the shop to get another ecu, and the problem still be there, then I will rack up more and more rental car charges while they try to figure shit out.

Don't be ghey, did u call upsolute?

I got a upsolute rep here to resoldier my chip, he suggested this shop that its in now. He said it wasnt an ecu problem, like the dealer said, and the other shop deals with german cars and emissions problems.
I feel like a douche not doing my own work, but I dont have the tools, time, place or knowledge to do it. VWVORTEX isnt helping me, no one answers my questions except vdubndizzy, but he just said to look under the car and look at where the 02 plugs in.

just sell the bitch for 11k and buy another dub.
If your having problems with this dub, you will run into them again if you get another. Thats just how VW's are. You have a few out there that have good luck(like mysefl for instance), but electrical gremlins are not uncommon with VW's

Dude, don't be a muff. It won't cost that much to fix. I don't think its the computer. What are the codes again and have you even tried a new 02 sensor?

I need to find out what it is because I have to drive to work. Its not like I can just have the car sit up till i figure it out, I have to do it now!
16514 02 sensor malfunction in circuit p0130-35-10 intermittent
I got an 02 sensor at the dealer, they said they tried to clear the code, but it kept popping up, then claimed it WAS the computer. So i took it to the upsolute guy and he said it WASNT the computer, so I took it to the other place and they dont know what it its, probably the computer.
For every day I wait, i have to pay 45 bucks for the rental car.
damn dood. that sucks. best of luck

did you ever check the connections or wires leading out from the loom to those connections?

Not me, but the shop its in now checked it with a voltage meter and said it was ok. Its been throwing the same code since i got it, and i got the 02 changed multiple times, so its not that.
One time the same 02 threw a too lean code.

Well,
I agree I am all for selling it but don't forget that newer car comes with a price to be paid EVERY month...I pay about $700 a month for the 2 vehicles that me and the wife have...so just remember newer cooler cars are big bucks for 48-60 months.
Sorry if I sound like the dad. 8)

I was thinking about payment stuff. If i got a 350z for less than 25k, it would be about 460 a month. hmm i bet insurance would be a shitload too.
OK if the guy gets a new ecu for my car, and it dosent fix it, i will sell it in alabama. If no one buys it, i will sell it to my dad for 11k. Then i dunno. I will be driving his shitty 88 chevy silverado till i get something. He got that truck when I was 7, i remember going to the dealer with him. :D
Hopefully they can get a cheap ecu, that will fix my problem.

I don't think that is your problem. You have a flakey connection to the B1S1 02 sensor.

thats exactly what it sounds like to me. you may just need to replace the connection cable AND the 02 sensor.
i don't know the route in which the cable runs but maybe it got partially melted :?: :!:

I have a new 02 sensor. I asked the guy again if they checked the connection, they said they checked everything, checked the grounds, everything. Said that it would be cheaper to try and get the ecu covered under warranty, but I dont want to pay ANOTHER 250 for a rental car fee if they dont cover it. Its just a big pain in the ass, I dont want to sell it, I have big plans for the car, but I dont want to spend more money.
I am selling the car for 11k to my dad, and cut my losses. I will help my dad fix it though. My sister is going to drive it (she wont drive with my parents, and only has like 3 hours of driving experience, and has her liscense) Hopefully she wont fuck it up. I was going to teach her how to drive stickshift again and maybe take her to an autox school, so she can get a feel for the car.
Im going to call insurance and ask about rates on these cars:
03 350z
03 evo
03 20th anniversary gti
01 M coupe
02 s2k
02 or 03 wrx
and some others when i can think of them.
