Ok....my little brother (not michael) has a 91 Accord DX 5 speed that he recently blew the motor up in by running it out of oil (idiot). Anyway, the car came with some form of F22 in it (can somebody PLEASE find out the exact engine code...I'm SICK of looking at freaking engjne charts on rice pages that don't have my motor).
So anyway, mom and dad just paid 2300 bucks to have another F22 put in. Well, it gets home today and I look at it. Looks just like the old one......I think he just found a full block and put the rest of our stuff on it (for only $800 bucks for the "motor"). Anyway, I take it out to drive. Feels pretty good....alot smoother, clutch is new, etc... Only problem is that it doesn't feel as peppy as before. It just doesn't pull worth a damn anywhere in the rev range. Odd. Yeah, so I just went driving again and I popped the hood to check everything out. Lo and behold I see damn F20A stamped on the %@$#^ block. The dick put in a FREAKING 2.0 SOHC 16v. So instead of the 2.2l which came stock w/ 125......we are probably pushing a whopping 100-105 hp now :snipe: . Needless to say, I've told my parents and we'll see what the mechanic has to say on Monday. I have to say that I am suprised that he would try to pull something like this......he's always been a great mechanic in the past.
From 1990-1993 the DX and LX Models came with the
F22A1 Engine.
SOHC 4 Cylinder
2156cc Size
im gonna be getting rid of my f22 soon, not soon enough i guess. That's some shady shit.
%@$#^
BTW... Your allowed to fucking curse on this board...
That seems like a fucking good place to relieve some stress...

How about an F20C (S2000) swap. You could do a RWD conversion. JK! Do an H22 or something. I don't know.

To be honest...I really think thats the correct motor that is suppose to be in it. Because I have the F22 in mines. The F22 if I'm correct are only place in the 94-97 Accords, the only difference are the heads. But I really wanna say that the 91-93 are the F20 and that should be correct in your lil bro's car since it is a DX and not a EX. Hope that helps and I'm corrected.
i know that 91 and 92 accords have the f22. All of that gen do.
92-96 prelude s had f22
fuck shit damn

Nope.......all 90-93 LX and DX Accords came with the F22A1. I know for a fact that the old car had this motor.

Thanks for you help Adam. I searched for that engine code after you posted, and it was dead on. Besides, I know this motor wasn't what was in it simply by the feel. This engine is totally gutless compared to the old one (thats really not saying much ;)). Don't even think about trying to drop under 4 grand w/ the AC on if you plan on even remotely accelerating

Yeah, it just got taken care of. The mechanic said it was an honest mistake and put in an F22A6 for no extra charge. That motor is supposed to have a bit more power than the one that was originally in there. Cool. He has redeemed himself. All is good again :D

*cough* when you put the wrong ENGINE! in a car it's not an honest mistake. You'd think when you are putting a new one in and it doesn't even look the same as the one you just pulled out it'd be a hint.

The motor looked TOTALLY identical to the one that was in there. I have NO idea why I noticed the F20A on the block. Anyway, he just orders the motor from some place and they send it to him. Aparently, he we were the ones who alerted him to what was happening. He has put this motor in past cars and is calling all them to tell them he will replace it with the correct motor for free if they wish. Either way, he was good to us. When we showed him what was up, he gave us our check back and replaced it. We paid him the original amount anyway.
