Yea, they have a short and long throw option from the factory... I went with the short throw option.

Hehe, the main hangup was the stick... it better feel right from the manufacturer for that much money y'know? What ultimately did it is seeing all the empty space in the engine bay... Looky

Supercharged
Which did you get?
Obike

NA, I'll turbo it on my own.
Talked with the service department and as long as I buy the parts from an authorized manufacturer (AEM, TRD, Toysport, etc) and have the dealership install it warranty is fine.

HA, they'll also rape your ass with labor cost! hell, parts too!

Well you can still buy the TRD Supercharger later if you decide you want it (maybe even for cheaper). Great looking car, and even sweeter color! Congrats man, new cars rule!

Parts I'd buy seperate on my own, all labor is free as long as it is under 3hrs according to the service desk (this applies for 2yrs/50k miles). According to the guy at the service desk they never had a supercharger install take over 45mins and the only turbo install they had took ~2hrs.

Zx is right i work at dyas toyota
We charge out the ass to put a supercharger on
Plus the charger alone is about 4000 and that dont include the inter cooler or pipeing.
in other words, cancel the loan and get the SC one NOW

Pfft, I can always wait 2yrs or 50k miles and do work to it then. I'm just glad to have a car that has working AC and doesn't die out on me

BWAHAHAH!! The electric bilge pump "supercharger/turbos" don't count
Awesome car man. That's the only Scion I'd sport. Is there any chance that you can get the SC'd one instead? How much extra was the blown version than the N/A one?
Obike
09-28-2004, 03:03 PM
5k more, and I wouldn't be able to get the loan then.

w/out SC 19.5k... w/ 24.5k

Z24: Does dyas have a record kept in a computer sytem saying what work I've had done to the car at another dealership? Dodge doesn't so what a lot of people will do is install themselves and just go to the dealership when needed.
Z24DRAGONX
09-28-2004, 04:06 PM
It depends on the dealer we can get records from the gump and atl
but alot of dealers dont use the program.
If u bye a trd part so long as a ASE cert person installs it ur coverd.
Obike
09-28-2004, 04:26 PM
So was the guy at the service desk BS'ing when he said AEM parts were covered under the Scion warranty as well?
Z24DRAGONX
09-28-2004, 04:37 PM
Yes any part that is changed from the factory
That is not a factory replacement voids warnt on that part and any thing that part affects.
unless u use trd part's
Obike

I'll just wait till after the warranty to do any modifications then.

19.5k! Thats alot! I didnt think they were that much. I thought about getting a supercharged one for a second. Its too expensive though.

WTF? When they introduced the car their entire advertising pitch was basically "more than a Civic for less." That's expensive as hell... and how in the world is the supercharger 5 thousand dollars?!!??!

the part/kit is around 3500-4k...then you have install charges...options do take into account what it iwll take to install the part

I like the tC. That grey is nice too, nice choice. In that price range/type of car I'd go with an SRT-4. Esp over a tC SC for 25k....that's getting up there.

yeah, thats just CRAZY. who would pay 25k for a scion?

sweet car man! Are you in auburn or what? I don't think i've ever seen you on tues nights..
Obike
09-29-2004, 08:28 AM
Which is WHY I'm not paying 25k... I'm paying 19.5k w/out the supercharger and I'll just wait for the warranty to expire and turbo charge it.
ricemaster: I was there for the last month or so of summer... I drove a POS Rav4 to the meets so you would remember me from that. Anyways, I don't care so much about stock performance... half the fun is tuning it yourself ^_^. I love the look of the tC (I got a hardon for the elongated curves that most early 90s sports cars had and newer ones lack).

well the car comes with
A 2.4L 160hp 163tq motor
9.6.1 comp
Electronic with Direct Ignition system(DIS)
Suspension
MacPherson front strut
Double wish bone in the rear
power assisted 4-whell disk with anti-lock brakes
Close ratio 5speed

Sounds like a candidate for a good handling, good looking, turbocharged car in the future! COOL!
Obike

Definately gonna have fun with it in the future :D
Currently the bank is dragging it's feet lord if I know why... hopefully they won't fuck me over like they did last time.
what's the curb weight on one of those?
Obike
09-29-2004, 02:01 PM
2700lbs
cool. What options did you get?
Obike
09-29-2004, 05:40 PM
Main ones I went with are sport pedals, side airbags, scion security, and sway bar.
Frosty_DUB
09-29-2004, 05:58 PM
My car was about 21k out the door. I would rather have the GLI if it were the same price as the scion. Comes with sport petals from the factory. :P
I think 19.5 is too much for the scion, personally. They are neat little cars though. How much do those options cost anyway?
Obike
09-29-2004, 06:04 PM
Scion.com has a build that shows you how much it is in your state and w/ the dealership you chose. All the options I want are almost at 3k.
Frosty_DUB
09-29-2004, 06:07 PM
I will go build one and see. :)
*edit * That shit is a ripoff, they want 80 bucks for 20 dollar 0bx petals. 225 for a tie bar? Ill pass.
Found this:
http://www.turbomagazine.com/tech/0408tur_scion/
The curb weights I've seen listed are 2970 lb. Car & driver got a 15.7 @ 88 out of one. Not too bad. Should be fun with a turbo.
