I have 4 things I want to buy:

1) 92-95 SOHC Civic Vtec head (D16Y8 or D16Z6) (wiring harness also)
2)ANY small turbo as long as it's in decent shape (won't die in the next 6 months...)
3)intercooler; doesn't matter what size or condition (I'm tight for money... )
4)15" aluminum wheels from a Civic or Integra
my email= bakersn@auburn.edu

1)the d16y8 head is from 96^ (OBD2) SOHC civics
2)what kind of manifold do you have that any turbo will bolt up to?

I just checked your profile, you plannin on putting the d16z6 head on the d16a6 block? And if you are tight for money, don't turbo a honda, thats pretty dumb. It seems you don't have a clue though, saying you want ANY turbo, like they are all the same. Or any size intercooler like a honda could fit a DSM front mount on there. Or hell, when you say, any intercooler in any condition, you want one w/ bent fins all the way across?

He is right. If you are tight for money, you have the wrong car and wanting the wrong mods. "And I know this.....maaann" - civic owner

I have heard decent things of the a6 block and z6 head (mini me). Check this site out for some info and good fairly inexpensive ideas.

1) For one thing, how the hell can you call any mod on an automobile "pretty dumb"? Have YOU ever got your all-knowing ass out there and put a turbo on a Honda? If you didn't, let me go my OWN way with my OWN ideas. And if you have, and it blew up (which I would suppose it must have if it's "pretty dumb"), you must not have done SOMETHING right.
2)I never said the turbo would bolt directly on.
3)When I said "ANY small turbo" I knid of had some idea that they're not all the same. Notice I said "small". No, I'm not going to put a T-60 or T-78 on there and think it'll just automatically run right.
4)About the intercooler; if it's cheap enough I'll find a way to make it work... If it won't work, or only works for a little while, oh well, I'll figure something out.

1)Its funny you say that, I was once into hondas, then wised up, but right now I am taking a break from installing a drag III kit on a '99 SI. Which is a turbo kit if you didn't know.
3)I'm not talking about size, I'm talking about Make, all different makes use different flanges, so you'd have to have a manifold that would house certian makes of turbos. And about blowing up, if you put a turbo on a honda, its not fast unless you run a lot of boost, and stock pistons will crack, thats just common since. N/A motors have weak ring lands, because there is no need in making them thick. Boost a honda, run enough psi to make it fast, say bye bye to #3 piston every time.

We are at removed if you want to see the civic we are working on.

he is taking a break from installing a drag 3 kit on a B16A2  . You can have a successful boosted Honda as long as it's built and tuned right. You are going to have to spend the money though.

OB - don't worry about arguing with him.

And exactly what do you mean by wised up? :x

I'm sure the Audi boys can get you one of their KKK turbos.

If I had a $1 everytime I'd heard that...

Go do some more research first. WWOBD is right, you don't have a clue.

Phoenix, i'm not trying to flame you here, however there are a few facts that need to be laid on the table. First off, yeah, a lot of these guys have thrown a turbo on a honda. And there are plenty more of us with experience with turbo's on other vehicles. The basic concepts are all the same.

Second, there's no new ground to be covered when it comes to adding forced induction to a Honda. All the territory has been covered, and there are right and wrong ways to do things, as well as ways that will work but give you crappy results and ways that will work and give you great results. So your 'own' way and 'own' ideas had better be based on what's already been done, otherwise you're in for a rude awakening.

Not trying to be a jerk here, but that's the bottom line. So unless you've done this before then stop mouthing off to people who have and take their advice (Regardless of how caustic you find their personalities). Don't jump into a project half-ass and then find out down the road that you're screwed because you didn't have enough information. All it takes is time, money, and a willingness to learn from those who have done this stuff. If you're cool with them and don't come off as a half-cocked newbie, then they'll probably be cool with you.

Dammit Matt  , there you go bringing reason into a perfectly entertaining discussion. Posts like his are fun because they liven things up. I for one am all for junkyard built turbo hondas. After all, when the engine grenades you can head right back to the junkyard for even more fun. Its a cyclic thing I guess.

Oh, I agree Jeff, half the reason to own a Honda is the parts availability. But then again there's still the downtime, most people can't afford to let their car sit for weeks on end while they hunt down cheap parts to turn it back into a running vehicle rather than an expensive lawn ornament. :D

Thats why badasses such as myself know the people I know.... That way I can have all the fun, break all the cool shit, and still have a place to store spares, a place to work on them, and a fountain of information as to how something should go together (and it doesn't have a keyboard attached to it :-P)
'Sides, the key to boosting a high compression engine is detonation prevention (which falls under tuning, be prepared to do a _lot_ of it).

and as a side note, I personally have a degree in the "If its cheap enough, I'll make it work" department.

You want an intercoooler? get on ebay and get a used volvo intercooler.. it'll flow more air than you'll know what to do with, all for about 50 bucks.
