The new issue of R&T has an article on the strana truck racing circuit. It's those 18 wheeler rigs that do road course racing. They're wanting to bring it state side officially instead of only having it overseas.
Anyways, They tossed out some facts about the trucks and wow...i'm really impresed. Check it out.
- 14 liter 14,000cc turbo diesel series 60 6 cylinder - sits low nearly directly under the cockpit for better center of gravity.
- 15.0:1 compression ratio :O Try that with 87 octane :D
- Engine produces 800 hp @ 2500 rpm's and 2200 lbs ft torque at 1800 rpm
- Weight of these beasts tips the scales at a scant 10,000 lbs
- Stopping power is provided by 16.9 inch front and rear Haldex water cooled disk brakes
- 0-60 in 5.5 seconds
- 1/4 mile in 13.7 seconds @ 98 mph
- 80-0 stopping distance is 250 feet
- Skidpad testing netted 0.97g!! A C6 can barely pull that off :P

Crazy stuff. Those races are fun to watch but secretly, I can't wait till swamp buggy racing becomes popular.
