Does anyone have access to a tape drive or know how to retrieve data from these types of tapes (.dat). Supposedly they are from an old Unix system. Hopefully this will make sense to someone....this could possible involve a monetary incentive!! :mono:
I've been actually trying to get my hands onto an old tape drive myself for personal backup reasons...
They damn pricey...

I have used these when they were Erix, before Exabyte bought them. Nice, Speedy, reliable.

Those should be pretty good for home use. I have old HP DLT at work, but I am not all that enamored of it. Might be switching out soon. Old hardware and all that. :)

I need to get tha data off of these tapes and then I really don't need anything else to do with them....anybody got a solution :repost:
Quit frankly your best bet might be to ask the IT shop (server guys) at AU...
Universities are known for using old ass equipment and are also known for not throwing anything away.
