Do a search for playstation portable or PSP, you'll find lots of info. Basically it's a Gameboy Advance on steroids. :)

We actually had a thread on that exact topic :D

How can an Asian guy not know about the PSP? :P
BTW gameboy will still own the PSP. It destroys all comers.

Hah! What a joke, the Gameboy DS is a vastly inferior gameplay machine. Period. While it will still be plenty of fun, it's not on the same level. Have you seen GT4 Mobile screenshots yet? It looks amazing!

Yeah PSP is freaking amazing. The graphics are near PS2 level.

I didn't say the DS. I bet the regular ole gameboy will still own it.
Will I probably get a PSP? Yeah eventually, but it taking down Nintendo in the handheld market will be a tough task.
Gameboy has and has always had these things going for it.
1. Cheap.
2. You can REALLY take it anywhere. My SP is the size of my wallet. Nobody is going to be carrying around their $200 PSP like an $79 Gameboy. Especially with such a nice screen that has no cover and will no doubt be getting scratched to hell and back. Do you really want to just toss your PSP in your packpack without wanting to put it in some case?
3. Battery life. The PSP better have a hella good battery life.
It will be a nice small multimedia center that will probably sell a ton but I don't see it being a truly successful portable gaming system in the classic sense.

1.) You're right
2.) Right again. I'm getting the value pack with the soft case at least.
3.) 4-6 hours of battery life according to testing. We'll see.
The gameboy is great, but the PSP is so advanced technically and with the software support it's going to receive it will definitely be a hit. As far as knocking the gameboy off the mountain, I don't see that happening, but I don't think it needs to for the PSP to be a success. There's room for more than 1 system. Look at console gaming, X Box, PS2, Gamecube...I think they'll co-exist quite well as they have slightly different nitche's and many people will own both systems.

Yeah it will definitely be cool, but just part of a different market. More of an all around multi-media thing. It's more of something I would take on a planned long trip to watch movies/play games than just something you leave in your backpack for whenever.
I DO think it will top the DS though. IMO both will need to prove their battery life. They usually over estimate battery life by a good bit.

Well, I just got my PSP today. The only game I ahve right now is Vampire Chronicles. But one of the other guys at work has Ridge Racers and the Armored Core game (which looks beautiful!). The unit is beautiful, the screen is huge and crisp, and the graphics are great. So once more games are released we'll see. Can't wait for GT 4 mobile. Also, I played a DS a few days ago. It was very nice, but in terms of the power of the system it's really not in the same league. Of course price and software will keep these two in slightly different markets. No doubt they'll both do well.

Haven't had any problems thus far, although I noticed that the battery door has a tiny amount of play.
