Not to get off topic, but I can't stand this comment.

Shifting fast is not that easy, launching is not the easy (not matter what type of drivetrain you have), and knowing how to setup your car (if you have anything you can change IE: tires, tuning, ect) is not that easy.

Speaking of launching... I got a new best 60' yesterday, 2.310 :metalhea: . Now, if I had my pozi track, lift kit, mickey thompson's, and my kinuter valve was tuned properly It would have been a whole different story :D .

I never said ANYBODY can do all of that and yes all of the above is NOT easy. It just doesn't hold my interest like it used to. I enjoy the strip, but not really my cup of tea.

Alright, not to jump in on this flaming or anything, but I would like to contribute. Jim, I've known you since I was a freshman at Auburn and that was 4 years ago. I've talked to over the course of those years, and the fastest you told me that car has ever run is a 15.8. Plus I have had other people tell me similar times to this, but not faster. I'm sure it won't take much for me to dig through some old track video footage that I believe your car is on.

Like I said, I'll show you the slip. Video from the track in Montgomery won't really do you much good. I've never really run that great there. Hell, the last time I ever ran there my distributor self destructed and I fried my ignition. I ran a 23 something and yes, I have that slip as well. My best came in Commerace, Georgia.

sohc != slow (that would be a not, for those who aren't in the know)

*my* sohc isn't slow at all, and for those who doubt wether a 'brick can get it without a turbo, brock knows better.. he's seen the orange wagon of death and how fast it is....

dude with the beater-lookin white civic with the engine swap knows as well...
wether or not something has single or dual cams has little to do with how fast it is/can be made to be.... (na, 2.0 pushrod ohv 1973 volvo b20, with over 200k on the clock in a heavy ass 140 wagon... easily a mid 15 second car at the track)

Besides, Jim stands to gain nothing by lying about his times, believe it if you want, keep your head up there if you don't

This is a good idea and I'm not saying that I won't, but I really don't feel the need to prove it by racing at mmp. I WILL NOT RACE ON THE STREET EVER AGAIN. Well, I'll tell you what Jim. If you run better than a 15.300 in your car in "street trim", I'll give you 20 bucks to cover your entrance fee and time. This way you are not doing it for respect, but to earn "easy" money.

Just let me know if and when you want to set this up.

sohc != slow (that would be a not, for those who aren't in the know)

We all know that SOHC does not mean it's slow. If you knew about Honda's, then you would know he was referring to the specific SOHC that came in the Del Sol's. Not SOHC's in general.

jdmsol
10-06-2002, 11:19 PM
First off...the car was not in "street trim" the interior was ripped out, blah blah blah. Secondly, that is a nice offer for entry and all, but it would still be for the respect for you and the rest here. My question to you is...Why are all of you really that concerned with all of this coming from someone who is technically not a "member"? Just wondering. I'll consider.

that is absolutly impossible! i'll race him. if you ran that time you should get up and walk away from my car. i don't see a 200 pound wieght difference making up over a second. lol, especially since i have 20 ilbs more of tq than him. lets race. i'll drive anywhere in the us that you wanna run. don't use the tracks as an excuse!

Where did Jim post that he ran a 15.2?? It's not like he started a thread boasting that he can run a 15.2 in the 1/4 and you can't.

Let it go, the world will not stop if you do. Is it really that important? I've never done the drag thing before. Someone PLEASE tell me (in a respectable way) why .6 seconds makes that big of a difference.

Ok jessie let me put it this way. Say when you get the 240 we will say you run a 15.5 et (being generous and wanted a round number). Then when you start doing all your mods and your car slows to a 16.1 et. You will understand how much .6sec means.
