That shit is sweet. Good job apple, on making an affordable PC alternative.
I think this will be the next Ipod. (as in, everyone will buy them)

One of the coolest things i've ever seen! I really don't need a new computer right now, but i'm so tempted to get one. :)

Pretty cool, but aren't there gaming PCs or something like that out already? Or is this just great because it's a Mac version? Sorry I'm too lazy to google anything.

Would this be suitable for somebody wanting to store and edit their videos on? I've been thinking about grabbing a spare computer as to not have it hooked up to the internet so I could do any important work worry free of viruses and what not. Wonder how you burn stuff?
Edit: nevermind, it can burn as is.
Man this thing would be sweet as long as it has the speed. I could edit all of my videos and burn them using this then upload them to the net with my "old" PC.

It is not really ment as an editing box. At 1.25Ghz it is not all that powerful. As far as storage goes, it has a 40GB hard drive which is teh tiny for editing video. It does have a firewire port, so you could usa a larger external HDD drive with it. You can bump the processors up to 1.4Ghz. with an 80GB HDD and upto a 1GB of RAM, but that takes the price up to 1500 bucks, with wireless, bluetooth, applecare, a superdrive (DVD burner)...that is lowend G5 territory, which would be alot better for video editing.
It is an entry level computer. The reason I want it is for a basic little internet box, that does not run Windows, and has a nice user interface that I think Linux lacks at the moment. And maybe move my iTunes stuff over to it. :)
It is a toy, like my iPod that I want for a) its ease of use b) its well designed UI, c) its style d) its lack of WindowsXP :) I'm getting old; when it comes to computers I'm taking style over substance. But I fuck with Windows boxes all day and when I come home, I want something different I guess.

This would be the computer that I would probably get my parents...
But, Brock if you want something for video editing.... G5... Really no substitute..

Yeah but I don't have 10 zillion dollars either. The G5's with anything added to them are a TON!
I priced one with some goodies and it was $7,000.
Ok so another question would this make a great little PC to use for internet only? Just downloading videos and stuff like that. I'd kinda like two PC's either way. One to keep important stuff on and the other for the internet. I just get sick and tired of constantly having to worry about some freaking new worm/virus screwing up stuff.

Meh, it could work. You could build a windows system that performs better for that price, and about the same form factor.
At minimum if you wanted to edit with a mini...
1gig Ram (OSX eats a shit ton of ram anyhow) and the upgraded proc. I'd possibly also drop in for a SuperDrive if you want to be able to burn down to DVD instead of just back out to DV

That $1500 number I threw out there was maxed out ram and proc with a superdrive, bluetooth, and airport extreme.
Even the low end g5 (single proc 1.8Ghz I think) would be better than the mini at editiing.
for $7000 it better be earning its keep and making me money. That is more than "some goodies" :)

Shoot, I had the unfortunate experience of having to use one an entire summer a few years ago when I was doing recombinant DNA research at AU. I ended up having to sequence my construct b/c the clone wasn't producing the appropiate quantities of a specific protein that I (god in this case :P) told it to through extra DNA I added to its genome ;) Needless to say, the whoel department uses macs because, well, I have no idea why. The programs were pretty useless, I don't really like the interface that much, and the imac that I used was slow, and locked up for 10-15 min trying to figure out how it was going to close the offending program but not crash ;) Obviously I wasn't using them in a typical end user manner, but I was very much not impressed and ready to throw it out the window on numerous occasions ;)

I have used Macs extensively. Everytime I used an iMac I wanted to end myself. I did alot of publication type of programs in highschool on them but they were NEVER adequate and froze at least once a session.
However, my friend has a dual 2.5Ghz G5 with the largest wide screen , 2.5gigs of Ram, etc. etc. THAT is a true machine. I love working on it, and I personally love OSX. If only you could game on a Mac I would own one. In the future if I ever need a computer just for work then I will definately be getting a Mac.
