Today was some of the most fun I've had in about a year. The last months that I was in AU montgomery had gotten extremely lame with 10 billion cars at every test n tune, most of which would run 18's.
This test-n-tune had nothing but cool cars and there was NEVER a line which was great. Yeah the timing boards were being gay but all in all it was ok.
I had a good time hanging out and got to meet some of you but not as many as I would have hoped. You might have been there but I don't know any faces.
Anyway the hatch sure had it's share of traction issues but I could have really cared less. It was just pure fun and I got a ton of great footage. Hopefully I can get it up pretty soon but I'll need a pretty big host.
I spent most of my time hawking people down because I sure as heck wasn't going anywhere off the line.
My best run of the day.
13.35@114.11mph  I thought I might should have been a touch faster but it's no big deal. It's still an improvement from when I got it.
After beating the piss out of it for the evening it started to act up a bit on the way home. At part throttle it wants to cut out every now and then, but at idle or under decent load it's fine. I'm not too worried about it, think it has something to do with the Hondata box because it started flashing on me
Oh and after trying to turn up the boost a touch at the track with no success it decided to bump itself up on the way home. I had to stop and turn it back down to keep from hitting boost cut. Oh well I'll figure it out I'm sure.

first and ONLY run of the day:
14.8 @ 93.8 MPH
i was happy with that..its about as fast as you can go in a stock (basically) 5th gen.
good times everyone...good to meet you brock, that hatch looked like a handful to say the least.

Nice run! We should run for fun one day. I'm a loser and don't drag my ass to the track. ;) :D
Brock, how much boost were you running? Did you run alcohol injection? Are you still running tiny tires? Looks like some crazy spinning with a 13.4, what was your 60'? Nice trap speed!!! I forget what mods you have besides the nice turbo and usual bolt ons. Do you have cams or any headwork?
Nice runs everybody!!

I was running approx 13-15lbs. Yes I was running alcohol injection, but am just using it as a safety net right now. Timing is still the same and it wasn't leaned out. 195/60R14 Azenis. Don't know my 60', it wasn't showing up on most of the runs. No cams, no headwork.
Once I get the car REALLY tuned (as in part throttle) it should be a lot easier to control, but it is currently a huge pain to try and modulate. Micheal drove it as well and can comment on this. 2nd gear was more of a problem than first. You had basically two choices. Slow, or banging against the rev limiter, trying to keep it right on the verge of wheelspin was just pure luck and I only managed to do so a few times.
An open diff doesn't help either. :(

Tiny wheels and slicks arent' that expensive. With a 114 trap, you're getting close to 11's if you could hook up. My best of the day was a new best, 13.218@103.92 with a 1.92 60'.
Congrats to everybody.
Blake - OMG! I didnt see that coming at all. Thats pretty damn quick for a 5g with your mods! :mono:

THE NUMBER OF THE BEAST! your car is possessed! :bfg:
typed in '0-60 calculator' in google and found this: http://www.sjdsm.com/tech/0_60_calc.htm
says your 0-60 is approx = 5.59 seconds!

Hey thats pretty cool... 4.63 for me with no traction :D

You ran your car? You should be real careful on the way up there. Some of those overpass bridges are only rated for so much weight!!
My estimated 0-60 is 4.5 woot

Here's a nifty link you can use to estimate your weight, HP, trap time, etc

Mine was 4.27 with the old car; now 7.51 :headbang:

Awesome! Looks like you've got plenty of room to get faster. :D

Thats from back in Dec when I ran the 13.3
Yeah, sadly, there have been a few VR-4 owners seriously injured in overpass collapse accidents, quite a tragedy.

Nice time. Gives me something to go buy. In what gear do you finish (trying to compare (5sp vs 6), and what RPM were you shifting?
only time I have run was a while back and it was 1/8th mile. Ran a 9.13 with a 2.2 60' I believe, at like 75mph.

Well, for that run I was shifting at redline because I hold 11psi all the way now with my N75J. That also puts me at the top of fourth thanks to mr. Six speed. It sucks having the slowest (but best looking) of the GTIs. The 5 speeds are faster in the 1/4th, while the 337 has no sunroof/lighter wheels and traps consistently higher. DANGIT!
At least I can drive and cut a 2.1. Suck it!

I posted mine in the other thread, but I have the same final drive as you so thought you could compare my numbers. ;)
rt --- .019
60' --- 1.943
1/8th --- 8.477
mph --- 83.46
1/4 --- 13.218
mph --- 103.92
I come out of first and second at redline and third at 6200, hold 4th. With the 3.94, 4th comes into play when you start trapping over 100.

No thanks!
Thanks for the comparo Dizzy. I was trying to use Adam as a better comparison since your car is so UNGODLY slow....just kidding of course.
Also have either of you looked at dynos for your cars? I ask b/c the only car I have seen with mods similar to mine seem to start losing both hp and Tq around 5600-5800 rpms, which is why I was trying to shift around 5800. I have noticed that I can pull on other dubs who hold the extra 200-400 rpm . Is this a fluke or am I on to something? Then again I could just have a freak!
Just for reference. K&N filter, APR 93oct v2.0. I hold 18psi until 4500 rpm, then drops to ~14 until shifting at 5800. 710N diverter (TT/new beetle/anything new 1.8T)

All stock turbos fall off up top. And no, you aren't any faster by shifting earlier.
