Like the title suggests I was wondering if anyone knew what I had to do, or could help me with uploading and hosting pictures from my own webspace at Auburn.

First you need an ftp client. May i suggest SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com/) or FileZilla (http://www.softpedia.com/get/Internet/FTP-Clients/FileZilla.shtml).

Second you need to FTP to ftp://ftp.auburn.edu/~username/public_html where "username" is your Auburn login. Upload any files to this directory then they will be located at http://www.auburn.edu/~username/filename.

Or you can just use internet explorer:

Type in this in the address bar:
ftp://username:password@ftp.auburn.edu

of course, replace the username and password with your username and password.

Hey that is great thanks for the help guys. So I should be able to link pictures over right. Here goes a test.
NOOOOO!!!!!

So how do I keep people from getting into my stuff after I have linked it, or am I just going to have to be really weary of that?

Ok so apparently I can't link pics. Thanks for all the help guys. I promise once I figure this out I will stop bugging ya'll.

OOK... Now what you want to do is call OIT and change your mallard password since you just posted your username and password to a public message forum

BTW, you would upload the image then link to it like http://www.auburn.edu/~whittme/image.jpg

Don't post the FTP information

Ok so I have come to the conclusion that I do not have a Public html folder for me to even put pictures on so what do I do now?

Create one. If it lets you log in, then you should be able to create the public_html folder.

I would highly recomend SmartFTP (http://www.smartftp.com/) for doing this. It is a hell of a lot easier than using IE.

Good luck.
