Best Buy really needs another installer. AKA: The other three installers are tired of working 40 hours a week with little off time. Heres the catch to get the job. You either need a MECP license or you need a good amount of car audio experience. Dont worry if you dont have specialty experience like remote start, alarms, and video. We are pretty much looking for someone who can do a basic in-dash and speaker install. Pay is good and its a REALLY laid back working enviorment. Anyone interested go to best buy and ask for Woody. Just tell him that you are in aspeed with with me, he loves talking about anything fast. Hope this helps anyone. ~Josh :cool:

Pay starts at 7.50 an hour with a raise after 90 days. With MECP license a 12% raise. Best buy will send you to get a mecp if you dont have it after the 90 day evaluation.

When can I work? I have never worked as an installer before but I have done plenty of installations on my vehicle and many others. I have also worked as a electronics repair tech. at Mr. Transistor in AU.

Damn this sounds like it would be a really cool Job as well. This might just be up my ally for the Summer. I will have to go by and talk to them about what all it will entail.

Josh, seriously. You've met me a few times...

Anyways, please tell Woody that I'll be in tomorrow to speak with him. I definitely want this job, need as many hours as possible, and know a ton about car audio (used to be into it heavily, have done many installs, even custom fiberglass etc. Plus I'm good at stripping cars. :) I don't have the cert., but that sounds easy enough.

I sure hope the installers at that best buy are 100000X better than the ones in Huntsville!

I had a customer call me last week and ask if we were scared to put rear speakers in a '92 Toyota Corolla. I couldn't help but laugh a little and said of course not, what would make you ask that? He said "Best buy has had my car since 10:30 this morning (It was now 3pm) and they just called and said they could not get it done and they had scratched my window!" He brought it down to me about 45 min after he called and my slowest installer knocked it out in about 40 minutes. Thats about 1 of over 200 incidents, that was just the most recent. They have never had a good installer here since they opened up. Really helps us out since we've had an A++ reputation on installers since opening in '77.

I'd hate to see them do a video install, but I have not seen any video in that store ever for cars...maybe corporate office doesn't want to compete with the other stores in that department? :confused:

To answer some questions.....

The best buy bay in auburn is 3rd in the world as far as company ranking. Thats pretty freakin awesome since its in small town auburn. Employee discount is HUGE. Expecially on car stuff and home entertainment. The position we are looking for isnt for someone with a huge amount of experience.....Its for someone with enough experience to be comfortable doing basic stuff. Anything else you dont know you will be taught by the other installers. Come see me in the bay if you come by and I will put in a good word for you with woody.

Haha, this is true. I was thoroughly disappointed upon my frist visit to the store. It's small as shit. I spent most of my time walking around looking for the underground portion or maybe some steps leading up to another level that I was missing. That store is practically a joke in its size, but I would still love to work there.

I put in my application yesterday and I talked to Woody today. He said the system was down so he couldn't pull up my info but that I should get a call in the next 24 hrs or so. I'm Greg if you don't know me. I felt kinda stupid because I was trying to tell Woody who recommended me and I don't know your last name. I guess he knows. I am really hoping for this job.

I have talked to Woody and filled out my application, but when I went back up to talk to him and had left for the rest of the month. I tried to get in touch with the manager and I have not been called back. Over all I was impressed with woody and the installer that I talked with, but the management I am dissapointed with so far. I hate having to ask, and ask, and ask for someone to help me especially when I have taken the time to fill out an application and try to get in touch with who ever I need to.

Josh, let me know what else I need to do. I want the Job and will work all summer, but I can't get there if I can't get in touch with anyone.

I failed the online test, but I will retake it tomorrow. I know why I failed so it's cool. Woody seemed like a really cool guy and Amy was very helpful. I tried to find you the last time I was in the store but they said you were not in yet. I'll be up there tomorrow hopefully to talk to Amy again about my app.

I went and talked to Woody, he looked up my app. (which I did a long time ago... been trying to get a job at BB for quite some time) and he said it was expired. Next day I filled it out online again... went to store and talked to a manager who said Woody wasn't there. He said he would inform someone though of my stopping by (exactly what I wanted to happen). They called me back the next day and asked me to come in last Friday for interview number one. SOOO, hopefully shortly I'll get a call back for interview number two. I really need this jizzob, I'm am teh brizzoke.

Man I must have done something really wrong, because the lady that I talked to just kinda shrugged me off, and I basicly had to ask her if I could leave my name for the manager. After she gave me the "you aren't worth my time look" she finally gave in and wrote my name and number down. I still have not reecieved a phone call back. I guess I will be going back to BB on Tuesday. I hate getting the run around. But persistance will pay off.

It all depends on who you talk to. Obviously not everyone there gives a rats ass about their job. Either way, as I've learned, with ANY job, persistance pays off. Many times that's exactly what they're looking for. Showing up and bugging them usually yeilds good results.

Be persistant if you want results. Since woody has left for now talk to Steve. Hes the newbie manager so he wants to make things happen. Hes really cool, make sure to name drop because he and I have been on really good terms since he has gotton here.

Hrmm I just got back... it was weird. I hope everything went ok, but I'm always pessimistic. I got there at 1 and as usual had to stand around for ~15 minutes waiting on the interview manager. Finally we went back in there and it looked like it was going to be identical to the first interview, just with a different person. Thing is, she only asked me like 5 total questions. She said she thought there was more but didn't see any. All in all it only took 5 minutes or so. I was kinda out of it today, which wasn't good... so maybe I caught a break. Either way she asked one question that was worded weird (plus I think she was reading it weird) so I couldn't understand it. I had to have her repeat the question, then explain in her own words hahaha! Hopefully that wasn't major negative points.

Some of the questions that places ask in interviews really piss me off though. The best from Best Buy so far is "What gets in your way of doing what you want to do or need to do." It's like they want you to be honest or something but then if you are they go "aha! caught" So I just say "nothing" and put a smile on my face. They give me this funny kinda look then just keep writing/asking questions.

For whatever reason I was turned down for the interview but I will re-apply soon. Josh, if you have any tips as to how I could get an interview I would apreciate the help. I don't know why I keep failing the test or whatever but I feel I am more than qualified for the job. I can also do the Home Theater install so if you could talk to your manager and get back with me I would apreciate the help.
