View Full Version : Track videos! Need good video converter and host.

I FINALLY got fast internet to my computer that has the track videos from a few months ago. I've got a lot of footage and am pretty sure some of you guys are on there. It was the weekend Gary White was there in his bad ace Supra.

So basically I've got some very nice quality video that I don't want to hack up, but I doubt you guys want to download multi-gig files. What is the best downloadable converter to use? I'm guessing Mpeg4 is the way to go?

I'll also need a pretty nice server. I've got tons of cool footage.

WMV, MPEG1 or DIVX would be good options

Edit: BitTorrent would be a good hosting/sharing alternative too

As I'm typing this I'm setting up user accounts for webspace and storage. Possibly by tomorrow I should have this done.

Download Tsunami MPEG Encoder here (http://www.tmpgenc.net/)

It's one of the best encoders out there, in fact most anime fan sub groups use TMPGEnc for distributing the raws, various edits, and subs before using the final encoding of XviD or DivX(which, if you find the plugins, is also possible w/ TMPGEnc).

I've been using TMPEG forever....until recently

WinAVI www.winavi.com put the smack-down on TMPEG speed-wise.
It's no way near as 'powerful' as TMPEG for for plain ole video conversions with no bells and whistles it fuckin flies!

Windows Media Encoder is a good free de-facto standard. (except for Mac's but, noone likes them anyhow :D)

The vids are currently in WMV format (I think, at least that's what it says when I click on properties).

I tried encoding them in Mpeg 1 and Mpeg 2 and the quality is terrible. :confused:

One 15 minute clip is about 1.5 GIGS.

Converted to Mpeg 1 it was about 136mb and Mpeg to around 198mb if I remember correctly.

Edit: I was wrong. One of the original files is 3 gigs for about 15 minutes. :O
