Short but to the point. Nice power for a street driven all motor R.

I don't think so, not much if it is. Not like it matters anyway because the driver is a little on the plump side and had a passenger. I'll try and find out if it matters.

Nevermind, on further review of the video I can see the interior is mostly intact.

Ha, what would it matter anyways. He would save like 30lbs gutting his whole interior ;)

Seriously - the Type R is already lightweight, and that dude was fat. If I drove that Hype R it'd be even fastaR! ;)

Just looked it up: 2650 lbs curb weight for the 01 R

2005 RSX-S weight is 2735 lbs http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v212/fastredponycar/forums/smilies/emote28.gif

2629 actually. 97's could weigh in at 2590 because they didn't come with AC.

Most people seem to always weigh in under 2,600lbs though, but I'm sure they don't have full tanks of gas.

My shift knob weighs more than that! Crazy japanese people and their bright yellow tin cans. :p

Everyone thinks Mk4 GTI's are pigs. lol I've had mine down to 2435. Probably about 2600ish in daily trim though. Interesting comparison weight wise.

hmm.. didn't know that about the 97's. crazy thing is that when you get down to that power/weight ratio, you can really feel the extra 40lbs or so.

Like in my car, when I've got my guitar and amp stuff (roughtly 60 lbs) it makes a noticable difference.

~35whp for $2300, is that a little pricey?

Man, that would be a ton of fun. RSX-S's are such cool cars for the money, and with a phenomenal motor. It's a shame they don't put that motor in the S2000. So much more potential...That's the car that really needs it.

You don't have to go Toda and guys have made 240whp (maybe more) on the stock bottom end.

9,000rpms is nothing. Not that it matters but you could take it well over that with the Toda kit. I ran my stock motor to 9,100rpms forever and I believe the stock RSX-S bottom end is even beefier although it'd probably like some stiffer valve springs.

The rod to stroke ratio is there, I'd think the limiting factor would be the head.

The rod to stroke ratio is there,

That's not as big of a factor as you think. It's more up the the rod/rod bolt strength and stroke also plays a large if not larger factor. Longer the stroke the faster everything has to travel to complete the circle in the same amount of time.

Although my ITR has neither an ideal R/S nor a real short stroke.

Please explain (if you don't mind), I don't know what your talking about and want to increase my "engine intelligence"!!! :D Thanks.

Here are two good links to read about rod to stroke ratio:

"The Rod to Stroke Ratio is the figure achieved when dividing a motor's rod length by its' stroke."

RS ratio determines the rod angle against the cylinder walls. The greater the angle the more the piston will "push" against the cylinder as it travels up and down.

Edit: Nevermind, read wiggie's links.

Yeah the toda engine kit is what I really want. But 50 hp to these cars is a BIG difference. 240 hp to the wheels in a 25~2600 lb car would be nice. Although with that much power and the RSX's not coming with limited slip diffs, it'd be self defeating due to traction issues. :tard:
