So today was a novice class... pay $50 and I get a personal instructor on the autox course. Well, turns out my instructor was Tony Schulz :) He's one of the NFSU Formula Drift drivers for Toyo tires, and omg was he awesome. He taught me a lot, I learned a lot about the limits of my car and the proper entering/exiting of a corner as well as picking out the best line.

My best time was almost exactly 53s flat, the one time he drove my car he got a 52s w/ some change. Not bad for my first time on a real course, he suggested getting ~1-1.5 degrees of negative camber on my front tires. Also suggests buying some better tires this next time around if I get serious about autocross (which I am thinking I definately will be :D).

The main problem I had was this one hairpin turn, where I would either have too much speed going into it or not enough... both resulting in my going to the outside corner and hitting a cone (dunno how many times I actually got penalized). Too bad I have to work tomorrow, or I'd be out there for the real thing!

*EDIT* I'd like to add that going for a ride in his S14 was purely orgasmic. Was sideways pretty much the entire time, a wonderful experience! He said that last dyno they had it was putting 300hp to the wheels, and that was before the latest tune. Thought AadosX and Jess would like that bit :)

somebody lemme know when the next time an event like this comes up... i`d love to have a pro driver (with an s14 no less) teach me a few things about what mine can do. well... that iMight not have had the guts to figure out already, which can`t be much, but also can`t be anything less than invaluable.

Look for Regional School/Evolution School. I strongly suggest Regional School first, followed by Evolution School (the more advanced class) later.

Video of a fellow Scion tC owner running the course, he got a DNF because he cut too early on the hairpin and turned before one of the cones.

Sounds like you did pretty damn good Bennifer. I haven't been autoXing lately but I spent the last week getting sideways and ruining my tires in the streets of Birmingham : )
