View Full Version : Ran a Bit Better at the Track Last Night

It was about 80 degrees here in Montgomery last night. The track was about average for MMP - not too good, but not too bad. All 3 runs were on 16psi which I run on the street. The first run I pulled in the staging lanes immediately after arriving because there was no wait. I bogged the first pass; then I finally got it going and hit second with only minor wheelspin. Third and fourth went by quick. I tried to avoid going into fifth and ended up bouncing off the rev limiter in fourth. I knew it was going to be a good trap because it will do 127mph in fourth!
Here's how it went:
60'----2.421
330---6.181
1/8---8.921
MPH--91.13
1000-11.219
1/4---13.122
MPH--118.87
With how many things went wrong on that run, I figured I could have pulled at least a 12.XX and something over 120mph by going into fifth a little early. That wasn't the case. I ran two more times with massive wheelspin in second. The second run had me looking at the wall on the left for a bit until I backed out of it. Letting out both runs still resulted in decent traps. Here they are:
Run #2
60'----2.642
330---6.652
1/8---9.537
MPH--89.13
1000-11.901
1/4---13.842
MPH--116.98
Run #3
60'----2.551
330---6.236
1/8---9.074
MPH--88.84
1000-11.458
1/4---13.415
MPH--116.21
Hopefully next week I will have some 285's (I have 245's now) and a little better traction. Oh well, it was fun.

Traps are good for an 11 if you can get it to hook up. What are the 285's that are on the way? What did everyone else do?

Well it has H-rated all-seasons on it, so I am going to put some decently sticky tires and 285's are about as big as will fit. Jess pulled off a 14.8@95!!! :D And Stephen trapped a little over 100 not lauching the car.

I was learning the new tires and was really just working on my launch. Best trap was at 86mph and my best time was 16.0 =/ Not even close to the 15.5@89 I pulled my first time out... oh well.
Btw, this is Obike using Josh's computer. Last night was Josh's first time to a drag strip ever and he rode in my car for his actual race cherry to be popped... I still say he could have made a better choice by getting in someones car that is ACTUALLY FAST! But I digress.
P.S. I <3 BFGoodrich g-force's, I'd love to autox them but I kinda want them to last ;) With the suspension setup I have I was able to push it way beyond what I could w/ the OEM tires. Still learning how to drive w/ em on, completely different than the OEMs that is for sure.

Looks like the interfooler slowed me down a bit (14.8 @ 92). It was hella humid, hot, and crowded, and the car was letting me know what it thought about the whole situation.
Heebspeed got only about 15 minutes of tuning for the 720's, so it was running quite rich and had retarded timing. Still felt good seeing it was my first time back in the car in ages.
Still haven't seen the SC; mostly my fault I guess. Guess I'll wait till the next meet.

I'm pretty sure it's using a VPC/SAFC combo with a built in wideband.

Yes - the 2mm HG lowers the compression to ~8.5:1.
I ran a bit better this Friday still with a shitty 2.3 60'. 12.80@118.93mph - again bouncing off the limiter in 4th.

If my 4th gear was a bit longer it would do 120mph. I'm going to get taller and wider tires to make the gears a bit longer.

12.8 @104 is doing very well in the launching department. That car has some rediculous traction problems with the T67.

I don't even drive the car enough to upgrade the turbo. I got the A/C working, getting brakes this week, and then some decent tires.

There are FWD cars that have been in the 12's with 104mph trap speeds, very rare though.

Yeah, I could do it on slicks with a lightweight battery and seat. I'd rather finish my big turbo setup though. I lost the stock turbo 1.8t Mk4 record in Nov. The guy who has it now has run a 12.4@106 on the stock K03. Low 1.7 60's.

AWD and RWD cars can do it, but not many FWD's can. Your time at 104mph is pretty good really.

:D
anyhow... figure this one out. 11.3 @ 123. im pretty sure i had massive blowout close to the line. I cant wait to see what MMP is gonna do with my car, i think ill save the balls out runs for silver dolalr, though. mmp can be a fun time, however.
