View Full Version : Rant... (Version 2.0)
 HAHAHA This thread absolutely exploded over nothing. Yes, as you can probably guess, I AM the driver of the red mustang. And yes I made the comment that few of the cars that attend the meetings threaten me and its something that I won't take back. I meant it. When Kenny said the same thing, he meant it. Big deal. I think that my comments got twisted around and interpreted in ways that I didn't intend for them to be, however. Here's the deal. Everyone knows what their car is capable of and I'm not going to dispute anyone's word on it (unless they brag about their red del sol running low 15's). Further more, I KNOW that my car isn't the fastest one out there. The first (and last) time my idiot brother drove my car, he discovered that my car is NOT as fast as Justin's Eclipse and nearly wrecked both of them. If someone says that thier car runs XX.XX in the 1/4 then I'll take their word for it unless it's some phenomenal time. Brock, a Type R running high 13's doesn't surprise me and I never scoffed at your times. I don't know what makes you think that I did. Justin Koen said it was fast and I took his word for it. You said it was fast, Kenny said it was fast and Grayson said it was fast. What grounds would I have to dispute what they say?!? I don't try to start shit up that I can't back up. When everyone went out on the interstate, I didn't feel like going because of a couple of reasons. 1) I know how fast my car can go and at the speeds that it's capable of reaching, it would be insanely dangerous with other testosterone filled guys trying to do the same. 2) Has anyone reading this ever gotten pulled over for going 100+ MPH on the interstate?? I havn't but I ran like shit when a trooper coming the other way tried to turn around and catch me. Thanks to a 150MPH sprint down a 4 mile stretch of DESERTED interstate, he didn't catch me but I can garun-damn-tee you that if he DID, I would never see my car again (and probably NO car for a very long time) Proof on that claim will come to this thread when I get back to my apt. But seriosly, going out there at those speeds with other cars is just fuckin stupid. It's an accident waiting to happen, be it someone hitting someone else's car or even the occasional back window flying out, it's just not the smartest thing to do. I did it because I HAD to. I didn't have a good time. I was scared as shit and I hope I never HAVE to do it again. When the white lines on the road blend into 1 solid line, you know you've crossed the threshold of a normal man's sanity. I just thank God that most of you guys have governers. If cars didn't have them, there would be a lot more dead idiots but then again, that's not THAT bad...
Now, continuing on with more topics of the rant...I'm not one with the bad attitude out there. All you guys who bitch about how shitty some other guy's car looks are being the dicks. Whatever some guy did to thier car, they did so because they wanted to be or thought it was cool. They don't need assholes slapping them in the face for shit that they more than likely worked hard to get. Who cares if he has a small model plane molded into his "Spoiler", Who cares if his car is red, black and 2 shades of primer, who cares if someone's neon doesn't have springs, and who gives a flying FUCK how many stickers or fart cans or Type whatever badges some guy has on his or her car?!? Did they ever talk shit about you or your car? If so, then by all means, do what you feel is necessary but if not, then why sling shit at them? Look, this is supposed to be a civilized organization where ANYONE who is into sports cars or performance can meet up with friendly people and have a good time doing so. If some new guy comes out to a meeting and gets made fun of because all he or his parents could afford was a $1500 (or cheaper) POS, don't dog him for it. You wouldn't like it so why would he or she? Try to keep a positive outlook when you guys are out there and be respectful of other's feelings. I know I might have let a few things slip now and then but they were said to a certain person (Kenny) that were intended for his ears alone and somehow it got blown up into something that totally didn't get said or was extremely twisted around to make me look like the bastard that I'm not. THERE
Moving right along....! To HELL with changing the meeting place! The only reason that the cops hang around to bust people is because of all you stupid jerk offs that think it's cool to see how fast or loud you can leave or some stupid shit like that. I know I'm probably wasting my breath here because the temptation to smoke em up (for those who can) is definately there. But why do it there? Why not wait till you go to a controlled environment (I.E. the damn fuckin TRACK) where the chance of getting hurt or arrested or possibly killed is much less. (That last one is for all you guys on motorcycles). Yeah you guys are cool and all but I could personally do without the wheelie sessions out in the street and I'm just gonna go ahead and tell you guys that I am by FAR not the only one who thinks that yeah, it may be cool for a few minutes but the 12th and 13th times are not cool any more. Put the bike down and come back and join reality. I just assume you guys have seen the video with all those guys who stand up on their seats or do wheelies going 100+ MPH. I got news for you: Those guys appear to be stunt men who know what the fuck they're doing. This is just my opinion. I've never ridden a race bike and probably never will so what the fuck do I know? All I can tell you is that it looks dangerous and I won't do it. NOW, I COULD go out there and cut doughnuts till my tires explode but why??? Sure everyone in the parking lot may think it's cool but the cops sure as hell won't! The point I'm making is that EVERYONE can be civilized law abiding citizens and still have a good time. I've started attending the AERC meetings and the cops NEVER come out and wait in the walmart parking lot for people to do supid shit when they leave. Get the point?
I know this is getting long but this is common fucking sense that I'm talking about and some of you guys should look into it. DAMN! I'm thirsty...
BTW, I'll post proof that my car WILL do 150+ for those who don't believe me when I get back home.

There's the link for those who can't take my word for what my own damn car will do. Perhaps you can take my camera's word for it.
Also I'll just get it all out now.
As kenny mentioned WAAAAY back when the thread started, my car ran a bone stock 15.22 @ 90 mph, which is EXACTLY what they should run. It's no secret that the pre 99 GT's are slow from the factory floor. What's good however is that the engines are very responsive to enven the most minor mods. Icing down the intake for an hour generally nets .3 up to .5 sec in the 1/4 mile. I wasn't really aware of this and it was the first visit to the track and my 2.5 sec. 60' times show it.
To date, my fastest 1/4 mile time at the track is 14.34 @ 97.3 Mph. I've got all my runs dated and posted out in an Excel spread sheet so I can keep track of progress. So if your car is faster, good for you. If not, that's fine too. I know some of you guys care more about looks than how fast it will go. Personally, I'm more into that. Looks impress most people more than speed.
For what it's worth to any of you, I've raced several 02 GT's. They come bone stock with 260 HP (flywheel) and if I don't pull a nose on them, we're usually dead even. The newest issue of 5.0 Mustang Magazine does a track test in better conditions than what the Montgomery or columbus tracks have and thier times went from a 14.98 @ 94 to a tweaked and well iced down intake time of 13.72 @ 101.8 MPH. Most people dont do this unless they're at the track though so mid to low 14's are expected. As kenny also said, I've put quite a few bucks and wrench time into my car and despite the transmisson that is currently sucking major shit, I'm pleased with the performance.
So now that you all know this, its not going to be something that I brag about. If someone asks me, I'll tell them. It's as simple as that. I don't sit aloof. I just tell it how it is. :)[/img]

As far as the motorcycles go, I don't think any of them read the board, they just happened to show up two different occasions. They are from out of town. I'll pop a random wheelie or two on the street every once in a while, but its common sense to be on your best behavior around campus during the meets, or hell anytime really. I personally think those guys look like fairys doing all that gay shit in the parking lot on the bikes, especially when the big dude laid on his bike and road around w/ 1 leg in the air. hahaha

None as far as I can see. :?
Also, most of this stuff that everyone is ranting about is being focused on people that don't get on this board. What's the point??

The point is hopefully everyone who reads this can spread the word on the topics. We're not out there to make enemies. If some new guy comes out and gets dogged, he's probably not gonna come out again and more than likely he'll tell his friends what a bunch of ass holes he thinks we are. That's not the best way to up meeting attendance and that's one of the reasons that we're out there right?
whats the point of spliting and locking a thread?
B/c I'd rather not have one 50 page thread....
Drew's post is pretty much a new topic extending off the old one...

Actually I heard that statement directly from your mouth when you were talking to me. As long as we all know our place that's cool. I just got a cocky vibe from you (like I'm one to talk) but if you didn't mean it like that is no big deal and I apologize for it.
1. I don't rag on anyones car that doesn't talk smack or try to show off. If you do be prepared to be laughed at because you deserve it in my book. Just thought I'd clear that up.
2. I will never rag on someones car because it is cheaper than mine. Someone always has something better or more expensive. I actually wanted a used cheap car that would have left me more money to play with. My parents wanted something with a warranty that would get me through college and get good gas mileage for less than $25k. Just so happens they had no clue what a Type-R was.
3. I've got pulled over for doing 144mph (clocked by a stalker radar gun) racing 2 other people. Didn't get a ticket (cop new I was good kid) but he showed up at my house to tell my parents.....wasn't pretty.

Hmm...sounds like lady luck has smiled upon you. If that trooper had caught me, I doubt he would be going to my house to tell my parents. It would probably be me calling my parents from the BIG house.
Are you sure it was me that didn't believe what you said about your car's performance? I heard of your times from several of my friends and I can't think of any reason I would dispute that (especially directly to you). I don't wanna be a bastard and rat other people out but my friend with the green Z28 is the type of person that would do that. He thinks he's the baddest thing out there. But if It was me, then I appreciate you putting me in my place. It's generally not like me to do that but like I said earlier, my tounge slips like everyone else's from time to time. I'm sure I didn't mean anything critical about it.
Also, I don't want to sound like I was bragging or anything in my previous post. I wanted to clear up any "mysteries" about what my car can do because I've heard various remarks at the meetings that I deemed reason to inform people. I begged my dad for a Fox Body 5.0 for the longest time because they're dirt cheap and the amount of money that has been sucked into the black hole could easily get a 5.0 that's in decent shape well into the 13's.

The motorcylce guys are about as ghey as it gets. I REALLY want to see one of them lay their bike over.
Drew, you are cool and I know you aren't cocky about your car. Sounds like plain old misunderstanding to me.
BTW, my chipped ECU is now sold and beginning tomorrow I will once again own a 16 second car  At least.....for a couple of weeks
Drew, got a question for ya.......Kenny told me that he pulled your car from a roll on when he had the old turbo on his volvo, what mods have you done since then to drop you into low 14's? I am not trying to start more crap, but Kenny's volvo on the old turbo was a mid/high 14sec car, not a low 14......so I was just wondering

Yes, I did. And its on video... that was in march or something (I still had the original diff in the car..)
We haven't raced recently, and my car isn't in good shape right now, so he'd probably beat on me

Uh oh! I think you've just sparked the age old debate between the turbo brick and the little v8 that could. Here's the deal. No his car never pulled away from mine from a roll. The only time our cars have been directly compared was when the two of us were out at the track back when my car was "new" and my back tires were bald. I ran a best time of 15.22 and he ran a 15.20. He beat me. The end. Now, to MY knowledge we've never street raced or anything like that. He's raced other guys in mustangs like a kind young chap in a black GT who hails from Montgomery! But as far as that video is concerned, it's news to me and I'd like to see it too.
Since that night at the track, I've added a full racing exhaust (High flow headers, off road X pipe and full cat back exhaust), rear end gears, larger mass air meter, intake, a shift kit and new tires that aren't so new any more. Ever since my rear end gears got put in, my transmission has been giving me hell. Every gear slips and the torque converter shudders like a son hava beech. Needless to say, without icing down my TRANNY PAN!!! the car refuses to shift into 3rd under wide open throttle. So, with this in mind, I decided to take it to the track anyways and see what would happen. Well, I still ran a 15.1 but understand that my run consisted of an abrupt halt of acceleration upon the completion of 2nd gear. Instead of 3rd, I'm met by a shaking sensation coming from the drive train that can be described nothing short of "bowel loosening". Therefore, Every run, I would just have to sit there and hold 2nd at redline and helplessly watch whoever was in the other lane either pull away from me or pass me. It sucks and until I find $500 to get a tranny rebuild kit with high friction clutch plates and a newer torque converter, it will continue to suck. The only way I squeezed that low 14 pass out was one night where i used a floor jack to hold bag after bag of ice under my car against the transmission pan. We pushed it up until it was time to drive up to the staging light and it ran beautifully.
As long as I'm not driving hard (I.E. Full throttle pass after full throttle pass) the power loss and clutch slippage isn't too bad. If that weren't the case, those new GT's would walk all over me, but they don't. I know the guys in the other cars and I know they're running all out because I can hear our engines running up to the same RPMs. I'm not sure what kenny's car is capable of with the new turbo. Those things are really potent. My car rolls off the factory floor with 210 HP and the mods I've added have dyno'ed HP and Torque gains that probably put me right about at 255~265 HP ish range. Judging from his times before the new turbo, I would venture a guess that he's very close to those numbers as well. I've got the torque battle won but with a turbo, it's a whole different ball game. I'm sure if either of our cars would run right (not anytime soon though) it would still be a close race.
This debate has been around for almost a year now and it's not gonna end until I get a turbo kit or supercharger. At the rate things are going though, it looks like the Earth will crash into the sun before that happens. My money is being focused on getting the tranny working and then put into a $5000 Griggs Racing suspension. My car is fast enough for me right now. It rides and handles like ass though. If his car gets faster, good for him. Sleepers rule but I'm sick of getting the wind knocked out of me when I hit those bridges on the interstate headed towards and coming from Montgomery.
Oh yeah, The RSX's are pretty fast too. I lost to one that first night i was running low 15's. A guy in a type S had a cold air and ran 14.8. I was impressed. Right there with the stock Type R's and the new GT-S Celicas from what I heaar.

Sounds like a fun project 8) The transmission table, I mean kitchen table is vacant at the moment. Hopefully we won't have to drop mine again because of the weird noises, but your welcome to use the table when you get the rebuild kit.

How many miles on the car? You ever had it flushed completely out w/ the BG Tranny machine and cleaner? Just ask T/A driver (if hes on here, I don't know) His was doing the same thing yours was, he came up to the shop I worked at, flushed his shit out and it was good to go. He had 50ish thousand miles I think and his fluid ws burned to hell and back. It doesn't really do shit when you drop the pan and change the filter, you still got hella quarts in the T.C. Try that and come by and see me at work, we sell Lucas transmission additive, and that shit is the shit. I'm not into any additives or belive in any of them besides lucas, they seem to know what they are doing.

dude where do you work? when i put in the shift kit, i drained all the fluid that came out with the pan and the valve body but didn't get the rest. I'm sure that could be a culprit. But I do really need a tranny flush. It's got 58K miles and I doubt it's ever been done. I don't have a ton of money right now. I'd still be curious on how much you would charge for a full flush and to also install a tranny cooler that i've got in my closet. Thanks
Felix
10-29-2002, 12:15 PM
I would have the tranny flushed. There is still fluid left in the converter that doesn't like to come out when you drain the fluid.
