Wow, thank goodness I didn't upgrade my PSP firmware. Some guys have now hacked the US PSP's for emulation of pretty much any of the older consoles.
I've got 70 NES games loaded up on my measly 32mb stock stick (could fit more but I've also got a pron video ;) ) and Final Fantasy III/VI for the SNES. Oh and the orginal version of DOOM. The games look incredible on the PSP screen.
The best part is setting up the emulation is as easy as it gets. You just download an emu pack that's been converted for PSP use and put it in your game folder (via USB), all you do after that is download the roms you want to play and place them in the proper emulator folder and THAT'S IT!
The PSP emulators also unlock the processor so you can bump it up to the full 333mhz which is nice and needed for some of the SNES games.
PSP = multiplatform portable game console.
Now I just need a 1gig stick and I'll be good to go.

Left click, then click download.
Here's how to get it to work.
1. Download emu pack.
2. Go to your USB mode in your PSP and hook up to your PC.
3. Go to my computer, find the PSP drive (probably F).
4. Click the PSP folder, then the games folder.
5. Rip the emulators you want from the pack into the games folder.
6. Download roms and place them in the appropriate emulator folder.
7. Exit USB mode and go to your PSP game menu and scroll down to the memory card menu. Hit X and your EMU's should appear. Ignore the corrupt files.
A few notes: When you download the emu pack it will probably have a "GAME" folder just like the one your PSP already has. You can just replace your current PSP folder with this one, but if you are like me you aren't going to want every emulator on there.
Every emulator has 2 folders, one with a % mark afterwards, be sure to put both in your game folder. Place the roms in the NORMAL FOLDER NOT THE ONE WITH THE % MARK.
NesterJ = Original Nintendo Emulator. Works very well, all but 3 of the games I've tried so far have worked. The left shoulder button opens up the menu screen.
SNES9X = Super Nintendo Emulator. Works pretty well, but you need to go fool with the settings to make graphically intense games run smoothly. Pressing left on the analog stick opens up the options menu and allows you to adjust processor speed and graphical settings.
I didn't get the Genesis emulator but it's noted to always exit it with the SELECT button. DO NOT HIT THE HOME BUTTON TO EXIT THIS EMULATOR or you could wipe your memory card clean. The NES and SNES emulators work fine by just hitting the home button.
As a safety measure be sure to copy your PSP save files onto your computer. When the USB is hooked up go under my computer and in the PSP folder you will see the SAVE folder. If your memory card ever gets wipe you'll have a backup.
