Personally I think they are very sauve:hitit: ...I'd get a Mac-top (mac laptop) if I could justify the cost.

Oh and I've known several hot chicks :pics: that are in design and use macs...Mike has got some very valid points. :thumbsup:

Reasons I like my mac. Not reasons macs are better than PCs. I own both.

1) Im not a faggety 'gamer'. Therefore, the 'titles' youre saying macs dont carry is kinda obtuse.
2) i have everything microsoft makes. Word for mac is WAY fucking better. I type all my stuff at home rather than the lab. I also own every peice of software I want. I rarely need something and went "doh, only works on PC"
2b) The only times I did say that is wth CAD software, tuning software and I had a POS camera that didnt like my mac. I have Virtual PC for those rare times, as if id ever run Catia on my home computer.
3) Running photoshop on a PC is a test of patience.
4) Ive gotten laid because i had a mac. (Freshman year, dorm life, you know the story)
5) If mas suck, why does everyone have an Ipod? its a hald held mac thats limited to iTunes.
6) No viruses. No spamware or adware. I dont need a new version of Norton Antivirus every 4 days.
5) Quicktime. Fuck yeah.
7) I should be on on, why was the last one 5?
F) ok, wtf? F? I suck at counting.
11) It's pretty and recognizes every peripheral without any drivers.
12) It works as a server when i need it to. And does so very well. I am an idiot and i can get that working.

Maybe you had a shitty PC. I use photoshop for a 4-6 hours a day on a regular basis and my PC has no problems running it at all ;)

I think that Macs and PC's both have their place in the computer world. I've used Mike's Ibook a couple of times when I was over there and the intrArweb never looked better!

The OS's are slick and pretty and the systems themselves are also pretty sleek and nice looking.

Same with Linux. It's not for everyone but does have it's place for a few certain things which I'm sure kenny could go into detail about the Heeb OS.

And PC's have their uses. I've never had any problems editing videos, compressing videos, recording and mixing audio tracks, playing games and I've never been infected by a virus.

A couple of sysadmins are going to be working closely with M$ doing the beta testing for Windows Vista so we'll see how that one is going to work.

Anyways insert_car, prepare to commit suicide in some elaborate fashion :) I've done a lot of work on Apples... in fact my first computer was a Apple ][GS. My dad's side of the family exclusively uses Macs, I have written an installer for our products on macosx for work, I helped port a decent majority of our software from linux to macosx, and my brothers are musicians (so when they break their macs I usually end up fixing them). So :flame: :thumbsup:

I have had a fair amount of experience with them, and I still prefer my PCs whenever I get the chance. Plus the fact that the wide variety of hardware and software available on Windows allows me to pick and choose what I want, instead of having it dictated for me (the only photo editing option viable on a Macintosh is Photoshop... while on PCs you have PSP, Photoshop, etc).

Hell, even all of my artist friends use PCs instead of Macs... the only thing the PC doesn't have that a Mac does is a good sound editing package. There just isn't one worth a flying shit as compared to some of the ones available on the Mac... I will concede that.

thats great that you have done all of that on apples. i truly am glad you have had experience but from the way you bash them it seemed you didn't. Microsoft office suite is available for macs, not that i would ever use them because Office is the most bootleg/sketchy programs i have ever seen. :D but my point is there are tons of good programs for macs. anything you can do on a pc, you can do on a mac. there are other graphic editing programs but everybody chooses photoshop because it is the best and the most compatible. everybody in the graphic industry uses adobe/macromedia/quark products for print/web/media. i would use anything else for graphic editing, just the same as 99.8% of the industry.

I haven't done any research into sound editing programs, all I know about is soundforge :D Music is beyond my ability, they majored in it... my oldest brother is going to be making the sonic jingles you hear during their commercials for the next two years... the other brother is lead guitarist for several contemporary christian bands (Plumb is probably the largest you even have the chance of hearing of). I don't have the experience they do so I'll take their word for it :D

fraid that`s highly inaccurate, to exemplify, iOwn (every version and upgrade to along with) every blizzard game and most bungie games. Fortunately for me, most of the good/great games that would interest me come in mac flavored versions. Other than these, two words: "torrents" and "bits". Sixty force in particular has been a great investment of my downloading time. Relive your days of GE/PD, OoT, and M64.
