First off, I assume "NEW" Z06 is referring to a C5, which is not new, but the only Z06 we've ever had.

Second, please don't say "low 12s at least" until you can actually run that in your car at the track. The car might be fast enough to pull Z06-like trap speeds, but pulling off a sub-12sec pass in a high powered light RWD vehicle on street tires is no easy task for someone who's never been to the track.

Third, can we leave the generalizations about motors out of this and actually stick to VALID points about the motors (assuming we even have to talk about this at all).

Fourth, JDM axles? Is there something I don't know?

That old clunky motor has 20% more displacement than your JDM tight piece. Perfect for spooling up a big turbo. Besides the reason your car is down for a week is because you can't find parts for it here.

tryiian - ecu is in the passenger kick-panel. The wiring harness is bolted into it via a 10mm nut. Just remove it, switch ECU's and off you go.

Driftsmell - For JDM axles, go to http://www.venus-auto.com/ I got JDM axles on mine and didnt see any difference in shaft diameter but then again i didnt measure it.

Have you measured the difference? Or..should I say have you had a shop measure the difference? :cool:

tryiian: The Auto ECU is a direct swap, just do what Jess said and you're good to go. The advantage to the ECU is obviously omitting the speed cut. But, there is also one downside, sometimes your revs at idle will sit kinda high, around 1k rpms. If that doesn't bother you, then go for it... there are no long term effects or anything bad about it, other than that gas usage.

DRiFTWELL: I've had an SR20DET, as well as KA24DE's, and personally think they're both great motors. One thing that always gets to me is when people call KA's "truck motors." You do realize than SR20's came in freaking Sentra's, right? You have a fucking Sentra motor. Not to mention, displacement and torque are never bad things.

Also, as mentioned already, the new Z06's aren't out yet, so I'm assuming you're talking about a C5. Even so, I doubt your car is faster, wait, no I know it isn't. I know more about your car then you and ZEN combined. I'm not bashing ZEN, there are some great guys (very nice) out there, but they have to know about lots of different types of cars. I say without a doubt that I know more than they do about 240SX's, KA24's, and SR20's... PERIOD. Unless you got a new turbo and new injectors recently, there is SIMPLY not enough in your car to pull a working, racing, Z06.

Now, your car is capable of maybe high 12's, but I'm not even convinced that you can take it there driving it yourself. Traction is always a battle with the 240's, whereas it isn't as much on a Z06, so maybe if you were racing him on the interstate, you'd be close.

Next, JDM axles? Give me a break. The JDM axles are the exact same as the US spec. ones, so I hope you didn't pay out the ass for nothing... not to mention that you're waiting for them! There are gobs of them sitting at Iras for probably $20 each. How did you even break one anyways?.. because I know it wasn't with power.

I don't know if you are a compulsive liar, or if you actually did beat a Z06 + somehow break an axle (my guess is hitting a curb or something, which STILL would be an incredibly hard/unlucky thing to happen). But, you're at least a nice guy, and these are just cars.

You punk bitch, my car is down for "a week" because I snapped an axle and I am waiting on a company to build me custom axles so my axles won't snap after I rebuild my engine and am pushing 500HP. Get ready to be suprised because the guy who tuned my engine management has run 11.2's with only 330HP and he has a smaller turbo then I do, and he is also only running 550cc injectors. He said if I am a good drag racer then I should be able to click into the 10's since I have a turbo that is bigger and i have 740cc injectors. I have not talked shit since I had my 240, but now cuz of your smartasses I will talk all the shit i want! I drift all the time, but since i have had my car all of a year I want to set-up the car right before I try to compete so the car will last laps. I also need a few touch-ups in my suspension like toe links, camber links, and coil-overs, but I am entering in this upcomming formula d in atlanta if my car is not down.

Nope, JDM axles are shit anyways, many people have trouble snapping them with only 300hp so I am switching to LS Auto Stage 3 axles because they are said to be able to support 450-500 HP without snapping.

And to get things straight I snapped an axle because I have too much horsepower!

Do you even understand horsepower versus torque? Horsepower doesn't break axles. Horspeower doesn't break ANYTHING. Torque breaks axles, but you constantly specifiy that you have too much HORSE power.

Have you dyno tuned the car? If it's so powerful and so well tuned, you should at least know some peak torque/horsepower numbers at the wheels. Enlighten us with your axle-breaking numbers, we'd love to see it.

Yea, we should line them up when I get my axle fixed.... I fucked it up bad.... when it snapped it hit the ground then got wrapped up in the e-brake cable and locked the back wheels while i was going 45mph down south college, it stretched the e-brake cable almost 10 inches and fucked up the differential, but i have a Kaaz and new axles comming so I'll let you know when its fixed. Your only barely pulling on modded Z06's running 12.80's? Hmmmm...... we'll see.

You punk bitch, my car is down for "a week" because I snapped an axle and I am waiting on a company to build me custom axles so my axles won't snap after I rebuild my engine and am pushing 500HP. Get ready to be suprised because the guy who tuned my engine management has run 11.2's with only 330HP and he has a smaller turbo then I do, and he is also only running 550cc injectors. He said if I am a good drag racer then I should be able to click into the 10's since I have a turbo that is bigger and i have 740cc injectors. I have not talked shit since I had my 240, but now cuz of your smartasses I will talk all the shit i want! I drift all the time, but since i have had my car all of a year I want to set-up the car right before I try to compete so the car will last laps. I also need a few touch-ups in my suspension like toe links, camber links, and coil-overs, but I am entering in this upcomming formula d in atlanta if my car is not down.

Yea, we should line them up when I get my axle fixed.... I fucked it up bad.... when it snapped it hit the ground then got wrapped up in the e-brake cable and locked the back wheels while i was going 45mph down south college, it stretched the e-brake cable almost 10 inches and fucked up the differential, but i have a Kaaz and new axles comming so I'll let you know when its fixed. Your only barely pulling on modded Z06's running 12.80's? Hmmmm...... we'll see.

Third, my main things that help my set-up are the Z32 MAFS, 740cc Tomei injectors, custom tuned computer tuned for 11.2 A/F ratio at 30PSI, and the Garrett GT2540R turbo (which is much different from the HKS, the Garrett has more power on less boost), I won't tell you the rest of my set-up because that would just spoil all the fun.

And to get things straight I snapped an axle because I have too much horsepower!

Tell that to the guy on the tow truck and Scott at ZEN! I just told u that the axle snapped then got wrapped up in the e-brake cable several times pulling the line and locking up the back wheels, after the car stopped i was going to get out to look at the car and see what happened because i was partially in the road, but i couldn't pull the e-brake up so i thought it was something with the brakes then i saw the axle wrapped up in the cable with grease everywhere and i knew the axle was fucked.

To say that you beat Z06s is an even greater stretch considering you knew so little about even Camaros. A Z06 weighs 3118# and averages anywhere between 345-360 HP to the ground. Your car weighs about 2800# without the addition of your roll cage, your added engine components or all the extra suspension parts you have.

Third, my main things that help my set-up are the Z32 MAFS, 740cc Tomei injectors, custom tuned computer tuned for 11.2 A/F ratio at 30PSI, and the Garrett GT2540R turbo (which is much different from the HKS, the Garrett has more power on less boost),
Ok, so you have a custom tuned computer but you haven't been on a dyno? :confused: Furthermore, it is tuned for 30 psi but obviously you aren't running anywhere near 30 psi. So that would equate it to being the worst custom tune ever. Congrats! :D
WRX guy - NO I have not dyno tuned MY car, I would have a real number posted if i did, the computer is custom tuned for over 450rwhp.

One other thing, from the sounds of it your turbo is the worst mismatch of cold & hot sides I've ever heard of. Tiny exhaust side + big compressor side = lots of lag and little top end. But you probably don't know what that means so it's ok. :)

hell the mazda Protogay from mazda speed was made with a turbo...but it SUCKS! THe SR20det was made in NA form. As was the Ca18. We cant really begin to say that a Car made for BOOST(which is kinda ghey, unless it comes stock with forged pistons/rods, metal head gasket, sleeved block...)Your Sr20 is a MOTOR as is my f22b, as is the Ka24de. They have POTENTIAL...and dont begin to tell me you could have beat the almightyred hatch...as I think under its 14lb load of god given boost it would handle most of its challenges. A motor is a motor, and a turbo setup is a turbo setup. I supposedly have the WORST setup for my car...ACCORDing to the other people with my car...but guess what...I have a FASTER car. It puts down better times even with no piston rings. I holds its own against faster cars...if you know your shit and do what it needs...it will run and it will RUN VERY VERY WELL. Your Pre-tuned sr20det from yada yada man ready for 450whp doesnt seem to have any weight on this discussion. My car could be tuned for 900hp...but I might only make 400hp and it would run like azz.
