I know this question is, like, SO 1997, ;) but I have a ton of CDs and finally am getting around to wanting to rip them all to mp3. I have recently reformatted my hard drive and I don't have any programs that seem to be able to do this (WMP only does wma?). Any suggestions?
I am on a reasonably slow connection and hate programs that interfere with my shit so something easy to download, free, and simple is preferred.
Thanks

WMP can rip into mp3... Tools/Options/Rip Music then select the format

When I go there (WMP9) I just have 3 options for wma- no options for mp3. I've seen plug-ins for WMP that make it rip mp3 files but none of them are free. Suggestions?

upgrade to wmp10 or download itunes, they both will do rips to mp3.

Sorry I missed the whole slow connection/don't mess with shit line. Wiggie is right...whenever sourceforge stops throwing mysql errors, give cdex a whirl.

If sourceforge doesn't fix their db probs, you can still download CDex from here:

Been using CDex today, but was having issues with tags (CDDB). Decided to go with WMP10; all is good

I like iTunes the most by far. The only other thing I've really used is WMP10 though... IMO iTunes is much better. It's less cluttered, easier to use, does tags well, etc.
