Maximum tire size on rim

What is the max tire size i can get on my 17X8" rims. As of now i have p255 45R17s. Cords are showing so its about time for some new rubber. I was thinkin that maybe a 275 or 265 mayfit. input?

I believe you can put a 275 on a 8" rim. But I think the 265 will work better.

That s what i was kinda thinkin. Its gonna come down to how much the sidewall overhangs. I have heard of guys putting like 295s on 15X8" but they had like 60profile. I think i could get a 275 50 or 55 on there, no sweat. Well maybe a little sweat.

It is recommended not to go over 265 for an 8.5" rim. I wouldn't do any more than 255 on your 8"s.
